Above and below, are dead Saw Palmetto Fronds. I do so swear, I am the one who chopped them down and left them where they lay. They were poking me in the back when I was just a swingin in my swing. A few days after the chopping, I noticed they were as pretty in death as they were when alive.
If you live in Florida, visit Florida, drive any where in Florida you will see this palm.. it grows every where ad we have a giant one in our back yard... If you want to know more go here Serenoa and Wikipedia will tell you way more than I can. Bob hates it, I love it.....
While snapping at the dead, I noticed the alive fronds above my head against blue sky.
The plant has berries that are edible, I will not try them but THEY say they are.
here is proof because they sell this on the internet. Seems this plant is alternative medicine (YAWN)
I don't like those fronds at all. They ARE sticky. Palm trees are too much trouble. In my last world, we had six of them in the front yard. Pain in the toot. Not to mention the cockroaches that live in them. At least they do here. I don't know about Florida. Anyway - palm trees are not my favorite.

ReplyDeleteI'm on Bob's side when it comes to palmettos! When we bought our house in Charleston, there was a large one growing in a brick-walled area in front of the house. I didn't like it and took saw and axe to it one day. It was a formidable "enemy" but I won!!

Guess a lot of this, is being born/bred in the North. Couldn't sink into the South (Fl, anyway). But I am certainly in the minority!!!
