This is my Redneck Fireplace.... Bob has a set of two of these, they are pots for melting lead.
I was snapping and whining "it JUST will NOT burn, all it is doing is smoking.... Stop! you will burn your hand, "I yelled as Bob put more pine straw on it.
Bob kept piling on straw and I kept saying "only the STRAW is burning, I want the cone to burn"
As he huffed and puffed and blew on the straw, it flamed up as I yelled
"be careful, you will catch your beard on fire. besides the ONLY thing burning is the pine straw, I want the pine cone to burn"
I said "stop! I want to burn it! Let me!'
He said " you know you are a pyromaniac"
I said "we already KNEW that!"
Well, we proved pine straw burns... do you think the pine cone will?
to be continued... if you missed the first one click on the pine cone label below the last photo
Woof!Woof! The FLAME on the photos is super cool. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteInteresting fire :) hehe I like the flames and will be interesting to see if the pine cone catch fire too :) Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteNice photos even if it is just straw, so far!
ReplyDeleteI like your Redneck Fireplace! LOL You are one silly lady!
ReplyDeleteNow, slowly hand all your matches to Bob...:)
Why is it, lightning can set a whole woods on fire, and when man tries it takes a million matches? Love the redneck fireplace!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a funny girl! Good luck burning your pine cone. Be safe though!

Mmmmmmmmmm! I just remembered! You and I both forgot the first rule of fire-building!
ReplyDeleteHave all substances DRY!
A right-off-the-tree-FL-pine-cone is not going to be your best test.
Save one till next spring. Then lite it! :-)
Happy Election Day,
"Auntie"
I seem to remember that pine cones crackle when they burn. You two kids be safe!
ReplyDeleteI bet the aroma was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis will end in tears.
ReplyDeleteHang-dang, who cares if they will burn, I AM ENJOYING your pictures!!! GOLLY GAL! those are awesome and you captured the smoke perfectly!!!! BRAVO on the photography!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now that I said that, if pine cones do not burn then why to people dip them in wax and use as fire starters? Glad you are doing this test....
LOVE the photography!!!!
you sound like my sister. she burned our neighbor's field one year, trying to burn the weeds in the ditch. then she almost caught curtains on fire at the holiday inn while trying to see if she could burn alcohol inside a straw from her drink...
ReplyDeleteWhy does Bob have pots for melting lead--just wondering cause husband casts his own bullets. Wondering what other use there is for melting led...sinkers for fishing maybe.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Keep this up and you'll get arrested!
ReplyDeleteI think that pine cone needs to dry out a bit before it will burn. Use last year's pine cones that you've stored in the attic just for this purpose. right. lol
I just gathered some pine cones yesterday and wondered if the they would burn in our outdoor firepit.
ReplyDeleteThat pine cone better burn or it will make fools out of all of us who swore up and down yesterday that of course pine cones burn!
ReplyDeleteMOL MOL MOL
ReplyDeleteMad Snapper if I read your smoke signals correctly they were puffing

PS excellent pictures. I'm so glad you are going to by my official photographer you have a very creative mind.
These are just fabulous shots even if the pine cone didn't catch fire!
ReplyDeleteI love the shot of all the smoke. So even if things didn't go quite as smoothly as you had hoped for,you got great pictures in the process.
ReplyDeleteThis post and the last one had me fascinated with your experiment. :)
ReplyDeleteyou would get along great with my hubby...he loves to build fires..really really big fire....
ReplyDeleteyes! Pine cones do burn! they have to be dry.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love watching pine cones burn, they retain their structure until the very end.
ReplyDeleteI like your fire pot, very cool. I've often thought about having a fire pit in the back yard because I love to watch a good fire. I guess I'm a pyromaniac too....lol
ReplyDeleteThis is funny Sandra! We have used pine cones to start fires in our wood burning stove. They are almost like kindlin'...if they are dry enough!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this WAY too much, Ha Ha Pyro-confession!
ReplyDeleteAnd the SMELL? Heavenly!

You mean we have to wait another day for the rest of the story? The pine cone should be burning.
ReplyDeleteLol... you made me smile!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I've never tried to burn a single pine cone. Usually I had a big fire going and threw on the cones as an added extra.
ReplyDeletelove your flame photos a lot!
ReplyDeletethe smell of wood burning fires is great...i can almost smell burning wood in my nose...thanks to your photos!
your humour is priceless, pyromaniac friend! you made me smile! lol
whoa, that's a lot of smoke you've got going there... Maybe it would have been easier to set fire to the cone without all that extra stuff?!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we do need to watch you a little bit around fires. lol sandie
