Rye Wilderness Trees


the path I showed you yesterday, that ran along beside the barbwire fence, led us to this path and all these fantastic trees.


Ssomeone is sitting in the shade today, because someone planted a tree a long time ago. Warren Buffett



Unbeleafable! There are actually tree jokes out there though they are not fir everyone-only the poplar crowd. OK! Groan now!



Why was the cat afraid of the tree? Because of its bark.



Why did the sheriff arrest the tree? Because its leaves rustled

    I know Spanish Moss isn't good for trees... but it sure is pretty and screams out (in a nice way!) the South!!

    I have worked quite a bit with spanish moss and it is very easy to work with. It has a beauty all its own. Cute jokes, Sandra!

    These are spooky and beautiful. I picture a decaying southern mansion with perhaps the ghost of a madwoman wandering it's drafty halls.

    I'm like Ginny, when I see Spanish moss I think of old Southern mansions filled with history and an occasional ghost. And sipping iced tea, or a mint julep, on the porch.

    Beautiful photos. I love the Spanish moss too!! The jokes are another story. Here's a tree story for you. When my dad was in his 80's his big complaint was all his friends were dying, and when he was in his 90's, the trees he planted as a young man were also dying. He'd laugh about it, that he lived so long!!!

    The trees look amazing. I didn't know that the dangling bits are mosses. Is there a reason why there is barbed wire along the paths to stop you wandering into the wood?

    Is that like a fern that grows on the tree as a parasite or it it the foliage of the tree. whatever its pretty.

    Oh, my goodness! What amazing pictures of trees. Love them all. I had never heard any of the tree jokes so thanks for sharing. I am happy someone long ago planted a lot of trees because I do love the shade they bring us. Hugs!!

    terrific shots of the trees! i love trees in general but old trees appeal to me more.
    the first one is my favourite.
    there's a touch of magic in it and also makes you want to go there and find where that winding path leads..
