Irish Dancers
I found this sentence in the newspaper explaining our Heritage week events, read it out loud. What is wrong with it?
Local historian C____ S____ talks of the life of Liza and William Fogerty in front of the home they built during a walking tour of Fogertyville, one of the events of Heritage Days

I giggled when I read the sentence and thought how does one build a home while on a walking tour?

The sentence is funny! The Irish dancer's green outfit is so pretty. That would really be a workout! Colorful kilts and flag photos. Wishing you all a very nice day.
ReplyDeleteI have probably typed similar sentences, my fingers are faster than my mind right now.. I love all the flags and the young dancers are cute..Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like men in kilts. I don't like Irish dancing though.
ReplyDeletePunctuation makes a difference!!
Best,
Bonnie
I love Irish and Scottish dancing.
ReplyDeleteThey were on a walking tour and stopped in front of a house to give a talk about ...... and .....
Fogerty.
Seems like a fun gathering.

You and I are natural proofreaders. I laugh at stuff like that, but it's surprising how much of it misses the editors. Beautiful photos. I'd love to be there!
ReplyDeleteWe have that once a year in next town in summer. They come from all over the world.
ReplyDeleteKilts, lumber Jacks, dogs herding in the sheep into a fence closing ,food and bands to know end.
From all over as far as Guelph, Ontario and some from States.
So this is memories for me looking. I enjoy that.
Thanks Sandra.
Punctuation makes a huge difference. Here is a joke i just rad - maybe the priests left the r out of celebrate and thought it said celibate - lol And did the men have their undies on? Gee I am bad today.
ReplyDeleteyes, rearranging words or a comma or two can go a long way. :)
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't catch that. What I giggle at is Irish dancing, no disrespect, it's fascinating, it just makes me giggle. Maybe because my mind takes me back to that movie (Leap of Faith?) with Steve Martin doing an Irish dance. Anyway I'm Scotch-Irish so this event would be great fun! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteYou found a great photo op in these activities. Looks like a beautiful spring day there.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE TO WATCH IRISH DANCERS...AND SO WISH THAT HAD BEEN AVAILABLE WHEN I WAS YOUNG I WOULD HAVE TAKEN CLASSES.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE CLOGGING TOO I THINK THEY ARE 1ST COUSINS.
HUGS CECILIA
Yes that sentence needed to be worded differently. Love that the man with the flags is so involved. It is awesome to be so excited about a hobby.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE your first shot of the Irish dancer up in the air! I read or heard a few years ago that there was a good reason for dancing without moving the top half of their bodies. My memory is hazy, but it has something to do with politics and religion, and being able to dance without calling it dancing. That sentence is CRAZY!! The whole thing is constructed wrong! So I'm thinking these were Irish and Scotch who settled in Bradenton?
ReplyDeleteAn achievement worth a reenactment, I'd say! LOL
ReplyDeleteA house of cards :)
ReplyDeleteI think someone needs a refresher course in writing. :)
ReplyDeleteLove all the dancers and that is one happy looking scout
That first shot is wonderful! Looks like such fun and I did get a laugh out of that sentence.
ReplyDeletePunctuation goes a long way!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteI was curious about whether or not you saw the dancers and flags at a recent event as you didn't mention in the post, Sandra.
ReplyDeleteI like watching Irish dancing. The sentence was a little out of order, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteAmbitious walking tour!

If you really want a laugh, read my Pics and Pieces post...the last part of it.
ReplyDeleteOh, I should have first said that I LOVe to watch the Irish dancers!
ReplyDeleteShe almost seems to be floating in air! I used to watch the "Lord of the Dance" or whatever it was called, whenever it was on tv. It fascinates me to watch that...They keep their torsos so straight and only their legs move.
ReplyDeleteIrish dancers have a LOT of energy! I love to watch them!
ReplyDeletelooks and sounds like a fun gathering.
ReplyDeletei think i like men in kilts (traditionally, most scots don't wear anything under their kilts), and irish and scottish dancing.
happy weekend~
Yep! I am still semi-addicted to those free kindle books, many of which are filled with such errors. I have to laugh at the comical actions the authors unwittingly inflict on their cast of characters.
ReplyDeletelove the first photo! It's so nice to see people enjoying what they're doing and you can see that the scout enjoyed describing the flags. :)
