Brown Eyed Susan - Partial Opening


Partially opened on July 22, 2018.. Calling this flower Brown Eyed Susan unless someone can identify as other name. I have 4 others about to bloom, these were in my package of Wildflower Seeds.                Almost Wordless Wed... heh heh heh…

  1. Gosh, look at those prickles n the leaves! I see why it looks like a sunflower. It is in the sunflower family. Let me know how tall it grows.

  3. Yeah! It's blooming :) I love the way some of the petals are bent up towards the center. It looks like it's little hands are reaching up to cover a giggle.

  5. These flowers usually attract goldfinches, especially after they dry on the stem. John's mom called goldfinches "canaries!!!" lol

    Yes, R-Hirta is the black 'eye'... R-Triloba is the brown 'eye'; which it is will only develop over the next couple days - lovely to watch!!! YAM xx

    Very pretty. I love the Black-eyed Susan. It is Maryland's state flower.

  10. With a given name like Rudbeckia, no wonder the poor thing prefers Black-Eyed Susan! Besides, I like the name Susan.

    This reminds me of Van Morrison's "Brown-eyed girl … you, my brown-eyed girl."
