Thankful Thursday- The View from the gas pumps

Each week I shop Senior Shopping at 6 am on Tuesday at Wal-Mart! The past two weeks I drove right past the gas station at Wal-Mart and forgot to get gas. Not a big deal since driving is at a minimun right now.

The thing is if I continue to forget, soon it will be empty. I sent myself an email that said

Buy Gas Today Dummy..

I get there at 10 to 6, and the gas station is closed, the first time ever. I drive over and park, pull out my phone to pass the time while waiting 10 minutes for the store to open.

I tap on emails, nothing new, I tap on FB nothing new, I tap on Feedly and it says Feedly is not available try back in 15 minutes.

WHAT?? is going ON?

OOPS! Mind Games by a Senior Citzen.

I keep the phone on Wi-fi to save data.

To use it in the parking lot I HAVE TO TAP the ON DATA button...

By the time I tap the data on button, the store is open, the woman who was late opening the gas station now has it open. I rush in the door with 6 other seniors, race madly to get out of the store before it opens at 7 to the younger masses who refuse to wear a mask descend on the aisles.

Buy gas AFTER shopping, which makes the traffic on Cortez impossible, as I pumped and fussed about people being late I noticed the sky!   It was much more amazing than this photo. As I drove out I snapped this from the station and all the way home was facing this wondrous sun rise.

So what if I can't remember to buy gas. I am thankful I have the money for gas, a safe hour to shop, and thankful  I can still SEE and Drive and and walk, and email etc and TAKE PHOTOS!

when I think about all my happiest memories of the past year, there is one common denominator.

All of YOU, my blogger friends.

Last but not least I am thankful I have all of you in my life!

Wordy Wed - UPDATES!!!

My phone rang, I could not answer it, Bob was yelling WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT THING?Note: I have the ringer as loud as it will go to be able to hear it.

I was yelling at Bob,  STOP yelling at me, while screaming I AM TRYING TO ANWSER IT and IT WILL NOT LET ME..

there is more, just imagine it ... loudly.

MY PHONE RINGS,  SAME screaming conversation again only 20 minutes later.

@$%^$ Spammers!  I MUTE THE PHONE SO IT CAN"T RING and explain quietly HA HA to Bob the phone worked fine yesterday..  today it will not answer when I tap or swipe.

I have had the phone 6 months, to answer the Cell, I had 2 choices, tap it, or swipe to the right.

NOTHING happens and  it rings 7 times.

I tried to find some where to make it ring 2 times or anything less than 7. I don't want to mute it because I can't hear the text dings or FB dings or Messenger dings.

Dings are important to me

No one calls me on it, but the spammers were driving me crazy.

I said Hey Google, I can't answer my Samsung a10e phone.

I weed my way through tons of questions like mine and pick the one close to what is happening.

I  can't read it on phone and follow instructios.

I sit in the rocker with my lap top and the phone and did the google search on laptop because it is MUCH easier to read.

The simple answer after digging around was Samsung changed the way to answer in an update WITH OUT TELLING US! they removed the swipe to the right and the TAP, which is the easiest way to answer.

Now I must answer by swiping UP, only Straight UP, swipe NORTH it says or you may use the UP sound button to answer and tone on button to end.

Heaven help the people on this earth who don't know North from South. My son once asked me for directions, back before cell phones. I said go south on 34th street, until you get to 57th ave and turn East and go South about 30 miles. His answer was is south towards the skyway or away from the skyway.

The phone should say you must swipe NORTH only or swipe away from the skyway

Am I crazy or are they? Couldn't they just send me a text warning me the update will change the way to answer? I mean what if it was govt calling to tell me I am on the list for my Covid 19 shot? I might die before I could answer the phone.

Younger, Thinner

Our shopping channel fashionista says pull/scrunch up one side of long tunic, it will make your legs look longer and your body thinner
Wearing longer sweaters make a person look taller and slimmer.
(yes, she was selling long tunics and sweaters to match)
You may remember from a past post we already know wearing a MASK makes my loong 16 years longer because every week I get asked if I am under sixty to be allowed in senior shopping.
While I stood at the desk checking in for my Doctor visit,
the lady that has seen me each time I go for the past 4 years,
said "You look so thin, did you lose a lot of weight"
I replied "yes, i lost it 4 years ago"
She said  "no you really look so thin, you look great"

I sat down and pondered this news and suddenly I knew the answer
I had on a Mask
I had on the above shirt with one side tucked up
I also had on a long black sweater (not shown)
😁😁😁
I may never take them off. If I could remember where I bought this shirt I would buy another one in case this one wears out from constant use.

First Shot at THE Shot

Yam wanted Holly by Golly, and I ended up with about 10 photos of Holly.

While playing with the vase of holly, I noticed the sun on my Christmas leggins

Then I saw my shadow and thought Wow, look how thin I look

Then I noticed my shadow was attached to my socks...you know the rest of the story.
MADSnapper at work! heh heh heh

I received an email from health insurance,  Medicare Advantage plan,
It said you are in the age group to be chosen for first shot at the shot for Covid-19.

We will notify you where to go, and when and there will be no charge for it!

I got all excited!!!

No charge! we are First! YAY!

Then I realized I am OLD, I am at risk! they are giving this to us first because we will be the most likely to DIE!

Next I thought get with sharing these amazing photos of leggins, shadows and socks.
get them out there, before they put me in a box.

That is why dear blogger friends
you are getting all these weird photos before.....Well, you Know!
😜💋💋😜😜
THE END

Losing my mind?

On of my favorite breakfast is grits, egg and cheese with rye toast.
I put a bag of instant grits in a bowl, stir in 1/2 cup water, stir in one egg, and microwave for 2 minutes, remove and stir in shredded cheese.
Since I eat like a labrador and it takes FOREVER for the grits to get cool enough to swallow, I dump it on the plate and add my Dark Rye toast. We prefer melba thin, 2 slice the calories of one reg.

I said to Bob, where is the ______? and stopped talking while openig and closing drawers because when he puts the dishes away it is never where it should be.
While looking he said What are you looking for?
I said you know the red thing we used to get stuff out of  bowls and pans and the last of the Peanut butter out of the jars.
Before I got the sentence out I found it and waved it at him and said WHAT IS THIS?
Spatula! OMW!
I could not think of the word Spatula.

The Doctor Visit-Bad News Good News

Wed, Christmas Eve, Eve
I stood up from my rocker, and stretched and I felt a stinging sensation.
Using a mirror, I found a horrid red blistered rash.
Rushing to Bob I said where did this come from overnight?
I said I think it might be yeast, but not sure.

I knew my doctor office was closing at 4 pm on Wed and not open until next Monday.
I called at 11 am, she said come at 12:30
I had to wait an hour to see the doc
(THUSLY all these photos! What else does a mad snapper do while waiting?)
She delivered the bad news with the words that is NOT yeast it is Shingles!
WHAT? I had the shingles shot, how could this happen?
How did it get this bad and I did not know it was there?
Her answer was, "that is the good news" thank your lucky stars you got the shots, because you would have been in agony for a week now, this rash is at least a week old.
She said the reason you are not feeling the pain, is the pain comes from the nerves. they follow the nerves around the body. The shot doesn't stop you from getting shingles, it makes it bearable.
The best news of all, I have zero Pain.
She gave me RX for antviral, to make the rash go away in a few days, said to put B12 under my tongue 3 times a day and put old fashion calamine lotion on the rash.
I did all and everything is fine...
It is already less red, less blisters, and smaller in size.

If you are a senior, I suggest you go get the vaccination.
The reason Bob and I got the shots was the life guard at the Y at age 57, had a horrid case and he wanted to die from the pain, for weeks!

Plus I got photos with the prescription.. I just hope Covid was not in the office while I was.

Beautiful Star of Bethlehem

 Oh, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,
Shining afar thru shadows dim,
Giving a light for those who long have gone, have gone;
And Guiding the Wise Men on their way
Unto the place where Jesus lay,
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, shine on.

To here this song, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, go to YouTube HERE... this is done accapello. there are dozens of musicians singing this song. this one shows the lyrics.

For Yamini on Final Friday Fiction Day

In Christianity, holly was adopted as a symbol of Christ's crown of thorns;
the crimson berries a symbol of his blood and the evergreen a metaphor for life after death.
The tradition of decking the halls with boughs of holly at Christmas continues today.

Yam, from my kitchen table, to my kitchen floor,
to you, I wish I could have brought it to your front door.

On Christmas Eve,

I love my deer, as you can see.
Merry Christmas from my deer and ME.

These deer have been in my nook many years, I think I bought them in the 1994, along with my angels.

Michael the Archangel

contiuned from yesterday post... I walked out of the ceramic store with...

 Michael the Archangel.
He stands on a trunk year round. I don't consider him a Chrismtas Angel, but a warrior angel, which is the job of the archangels in the Bible.

He spoke to me when I saw him and when I got him home, Bob said What NOW?

My answer was "He is BIG" but he is so fierce and I love Him"
He stands 19 inches tall at his wing tips.
He stands guard in our living room all year long.
One year, I put the whole nativity on the trunk, all the pieces and off to the side
Michale stood gurad over all of them.
I had candles burning and it made me feel good.
A friend stopped by for a minute and when she saw it she said
Hummmp, Looks like a shrine to me!

why is it that we remember vividly every word that hurts us for the rest of our lives?

Michael in Lunapic he guards the Herald Angels While They Sing

I could have named him other names, there are 7 archangels, but to me he is the angel that is spoken of as the leader of the army in the War in Heaven

Way Back When

In the early 90's, as a Real Estate Agent, I had a lot of time off to do fun things.
I went into Paint Mode.
I was in Silver Blue Wash Mode for the paint color.

I found the angel and she was so beautiful I bought her.
Next was Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in the manger.
I added pieces for a couple of years.
I even painted a bust because it looked Like Bob.
Not sure who it really is. You can see it HERE
See, it even has Bob's Camera Frown

Night and Day views of 2009 Nook. The first Christmas I blogged. I am still using the same trees since 2006

One day I walked into the cermaics store, browsing while on my lunch break
and walked out with...................

Reindeer Cards for you

Oh, Deer, what a year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
That's all we want to hear.
Because of this I give you Cheer.

Contrary to popular belief, Santa's favorite reindeer was a Brown Nosed Reindeer.

Brownie to Santa...
Thank you sir for giving me the opportunity to guide your sleigh.
You are truly a most thoughtful, generous kind and beautiful human being. 🦌

How do the elves clean Santa's sleigh the day after Christmas.
Santa-tizer...

Don't these just sleigh you?

Not content to just show you the card I received from an old friend, I took it to PicMonkey to practice with and made the above card.

No edit can improve on this card, the background is gorgeous, it is deep black and sparkles like crazy under the lights in the nook. I could not get a decent photo to show how pretty it is.

In Memory of Nancy and Kenneth McGowan

In Memory of Kenneth and Nancy McGowan
Yesterday my friend Julie, lost both of her parents to this deadly Covid-19.
They died in our ICU after 17 days, they died 16 minutes apart.
They leave behind a huge loving family, and many friends that considered them their parents too.
I have been friends with their daughter and her husband for many years.
The virus has struck close to home and I want all of you to know this virus is not a hoax.
Our town has had 400 die in the past few weeks, our ICU is full in all 3 of our hospitals.

My brothers son and his wife, are down with the virus now, in Augusta GA
PLEASE take care,
Stay Home, Stop the Spread
We are told there will be 500,000 dead from this virus between now and April
and it can be avoided by
Wash Hands, wear MASK, stay Home.
So simple, Save Lives.

Walking again

Before Covid 19, I walked twice a day, for some reason I stopped, for months.
7 days ago I started walking again, these are a few things I see while walking.
The house above and below, still had their lights on and the sunbeams added to the charm.

I like the deer but what drew my attention was that lovely swing on the porch.

this fence is between us and our neighbor. There Lights, My Cell phone.
The tree is in our front yard, I took this from there front yard, the back of their house it towards the garage side of our house. they are on the corner,

When I checked this in preview, I realized this may be the most boring post EVER.
                                                     I GOT NOTHING ELSE...
