MY OCD BROKE

 Routine is my middle name,

which means habits are my only game.

Wake Up and potty, then make the bed.

I don' have to think, this is in my head.

Brush my teeth, brush my hair.

Back to the bed, exercising by lifting legs into the air.

Stretches' next, then kick my legs,

Head to the kitchen to cook my eggs,

Each day has its on thing to be done,

I check them off, one by one.

Saturday 6 am is shopping

Sunday is reserved for vac and mopping.

Showers are usually in late afternoon,

Reading and commenting are done before noon.

If you have known me for awhile,

you can now say OCD and smile.

I have daily exercise, set up for each day,

the time, the exercise, different everyday.

Last Sunday, before I got up, my mind still whirling in a Beaumont Daze,

I suddenly realized I had done zero exercise for 8 whole days.

Nothing, Nada, not one at all,

my mind focused on the fact beau can not play ball.

I got out of bed,

Showered and washed the hair on my head.

Bob said aren't we doing the floor?

Oh NO, I forgot, this I have never forgotten before.

I thought once more, about the missed exercise,

I went to lay on the bed and to my surprise,

I had forgotten to make up the bed.

I made up the bed, lay down and was blinded by the ceiling light over my head

It seems I forgot to turn it off, before I lay down,

Even though blinded, the evidence was clear, causing my face to frown.

the fan and 4 lights was draped in cobwebs, it seems I forgot to swipe them down.

  1. WOW, you rhyme good!!! This happened because your mind was too overloaded with stress, and it was all consuming. You are fine. But it sure can be upsetting.

  2. Great rhyming tale draped in cobwebs - just call it a halloween decoration that stayed up till 12th night. As for jeans F is a Scrooge. She makes dresses and shirts and kids clothes and quilts, but she can't make jeans (jeans that look like jeans) and she won't buy them at fashion jeans prices, so she is bound to pick stuff like that when it's a freebie.

  3. I love it! You make everything fun! Sometimes I am doing something like emptying the dishwasher and Ihave to leave for some reason - as to go get something or go to the bathroom - and then I forget what I WAS doing and go start somethomg else like making up the bed. Then wehen I go back to the kitchen I am shocked to see that I had not finshed whatever it was. I'm more upset that I FORGOT about it than anything.

  4. I'm like you, I need my daily routine... think that's what I learnt from the pups...

  5. Hello Sandra,:=) What you have not forgotten is how to make a good post, your rhyming was fun to read, and nothing to worry about. Beau has been your main concern, and your OCD tendencies
off track. All will be normal again, once you are not so stressed.

Do you have to get up so early to go to WallMark for fear of shortages on the shelves later in the day?

  6. Hello, Sandra
What a fun post, I like all the rhymes. I think you have only had time for worrying about Beau. I like my routines too. I think all is ok, especially when Beau has recovered. Take care, have a great day!

  7. My habitual ritual is first thing in the morning. I try to schedule heart meds at the same hour ...then, after that anything goes!! For me routine can get boring (I'm like Beau ...bored easily)

  8. My only routine now is that in recent weeks, I've been getting out of bed and going to walk on the gym treadmill. Thankfully, it's within the mill buildings so no need to go outdoors...and no excuses!

  9. I've always been a creature of habit but lately my habits are becoming laziness.

  10. I don't think being OCD is a bad thing at all. (Of course, because I'm largely the same. Ha.) KInd of comforting, knowing there's stuff on the calendar. Know what I mean?
Yesterday I was late getting out and didn't make the bed. Heck with that, someone might say. But nooooo ... I was worried about that all day.

...all of which actually proves you do not have OCD. If you did, even all the worry of Beau would not have been able to prevent you from carrying out the things that would keep an OCDer sane. What you do have is a strong daily routine, with appropriate variety and the ability to let it go when something way more important demands your attention... and the great thing about routines is that they slot back into place when everything else is back in order. 12. You really do make ordinary chores sound like fun. And you've sure had your share of different things to take care of which makes it hard to do anything in any order! Enjoy your day! Stretch....!!!

  13. This is a great poem...you are allowed to get out a sync with all that has been going on!

  14. I too am a creature of habit...certain days are reserved for certain activities

  15. There's a reason for your rhyming. Routines keep us sane.

  16. I guess we all have routines but mine aren't as stringent as yours. I can be side-tracked but eventually they all seem to get done.
Too much OCD would make me totally nuts. I do think I could use a bit more of it though.
Great poem about your day and here's hoping Beau continues to improve and life gets back to "normal".

  17. I hope things settle down now. Great post!

  18. Well, at least your ability to rhyme is still functioning :) I agree with Ginny, the disturbed routines are stress-related. Our routines really depend on the rest of life behaving according to routine as well! I hope things will calm down for you. ♥

  19. Oh my, what happened??? I have to say that I admire what you do each day and the plans you set up for the week. I need your ambition.

  20. UH OH! What's up with that?! I am pretty much a creature of habit too for a morning routine but my days change and I don't have daily task routines set once morning has passed. Part of it is with caretaking John I am never sure what is going on there and now Scruffy takes up time, too

Hope your get your OCD back...if you want to....lol. xo Diana

  21. Such a cute poem! But give yourself some leeway, you will get back in the routine or maybe change up the routine to a new one in places?

  22. I do certain things on a daily basis but nothing this OCD - in the morning is about me getting into a happy upright state - plus I can't do a lot for at least an hour after I have eaten, so I try to do various things before that. If something doesn't get "done" I do not fret about it because there is always tomorrow...

  23. This is great! Loved it! I wish I could be more organized. I am more the second half of your poem these days.
