Bougainvillea is so pretty from our front window. It is drought resistant and blooms no matter what happens with the weather.
I can see it while cooking/washing dishes or sitting in my chair or sofa.
Below is view from front porch and the rest of the photos are from our driveway looking at the house
If we had any rain at all it would be three times as big as it is, but we are thankful.
it is in our view from inside our home.
Don't rush out to buy one. They are the dickens to take care of. Covered in long dagger like thorns.
I have never seen a real one, at least I don't think. It is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWe had one in our garden when we lived in California. I loved it just for the color alone, like yours :)

ReplyDeleteI adore them. Had one in my courtyard in Asquith... you are right, it required - I would say demanded! - attention! YAM xx
a real trooper...we hope for some rain for a the thirsty plants...
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty. Nice that it is drought resistant and can deliver such a beautiful show
ReplyDeleteI love the bougainvillea , the colors are lovely too. I am glad it is drought resistant. I would put it all around my yard, I wish it grew here.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day!
I don't think we have those over here, I must investigate, lol

Ours, lately, freeze. Even if covered during the cold snaps.
ReplyDeleteBougainvillea everywhere in Greece - pink mainly(fluorescent), red, white and a few purple and lavender ones. I think the canny people grow them where they don't need to be attended - over garage/car port for instance, or all over the side of a building. The colour is eye searing but amazing. They might grow in UK on the sunny side of a house on the south coast. They seem to cope with snow in winter in Greece, but maybe they don't like frosts once their leaves and flower-buds start forming in the spring. xxx Mr T and F (your post-it has been noted)
ReplyDeleteMS what a beautiful color it is too. It looks so delicate yet is obviously a tough one to survive the hot dry time

Such beautiful plants, bougainvillea are. We had them all over the place in California...you are right though, they are very prickly!
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty. We see them all over in CA. Glad they are drought resistant too. Great view from your windows.
ReplyDeleteWe have had 2 days of sunshine..it feels so good. The birds are happy and the plants seem to like it too.

What a beautiful contrast to the newly-painted shutters!
ReplyDeleteWe had those Bougainvillea in Phoenix. Lovely for photo ops and to gaze on -- but oh what a mess to (try to) keep out of the pool and the filter. Yuk!
It is very beautiful. Did you plant it or what?
ReplyDeleteIt would be worth the trouble...it is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! It would never grow up on our land.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see Bougainvillea I am reminded of visits to Costa Rica, where it seemed to be everywhere. It is not only beautiful but wonderfully attractive to bird and insect pollinators. It may be a lot of effort to maintain it, but I would imagine the blooms make it all worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra :=)
ReplyDeleteI share your love of the Bougainvillea shrub and yours is very beautiful. I have had mine for at least 40 years, and it has climbed to the top of the roof and was trained along my dining room wall, but last year I noticed it didn't bloom so profusely. I think it may be it's last summer this year.
I love that you get to see it from the house. They are so pretty. Ours right now are not doing well because we have had way too much rain.
