Standing on the front porch, the sound of raindrops playing their music in my ears, I lifted the potted fern from the porch and out into the rain and stood watcing the fronds lifted toward the rain.
Six minutes and the rain stopped. I snapped the photo on the right side below and stood watching as the sun painted the dark green the bright green the rain had brought.
This amazing phenomenon of rain turning to sun is the normal for Florida, we are in the sub tropics of the state only 40 miles from the tropics.
Hot sun and cool rain make everything grow like we live in a giant green house.
The normal rainfall comes almost every afternoon during the warm months, but for months we
had no rain.
Sunshine and Shadows, two of my favorite things.
A few hours later the rain came once again, this time for an hour.
We received a total of 1.75 inches in two days.
Thank you, Lord.

The fern in the sun is gorgeous!!! And it loves the rain, I am so glad you ran outside and put it out. Let me know how your appointment went.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Queensland. We love the rain too especially in summer. It's getting colder here now. Very cool mornings but lovely warm sunny days.Hope your medical went well. Bill is not well at the moment but haven't had a convincing diagnosis yet. Waiting for blood results next week.
ReplyDeleteHurray for the rain! And good luck with the doctor.

Lovely photos of your fern in both sun and rain! Glad you got some rain at last after all that drought.
ReplyDeleteRain is great, the floods that occur so frequently of late, not so much! Hope the medical results are great.
ReplyDelete50(or so) shades of green! I love the fern's shadows.
ReplyDeleteWe've no out-door plants, but I love to see the way my philo's leaves perk up when they're watered.
It wasn't until we moved to the Arizona desert I learned to appreciate rainfall.
OH GOODNESS golden drops of rain.
ReplyDeleteMiss Fern is one happy lady too.
I love the reflections in the sun.
Yep you were right I love the color combo on the truck
And there was just enough(not too much) chrome to highlight the colors

Your fern is so pretty. So tell me when it rains - is it humid there?
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of rain. Used to love it at my dad's summer home. Glad you at least got 6 minutes of rain. Love all the photos.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got some rain and your ferns are happy too.
ReplyDeleteHope this is a sign of more to come and your drought will be lessened.
On my way again to Lynne's for another Sunday stint until 5:30PM.
Praying the Sundowner's won't set in today.

Hello Sandra :=)
ReplyDeleteI know that I have missed something, perhaps in an earlier post but I too hope all will be well after you have seen a doctor. I'm so glad you are getting your usual rainfall at last, and would you believe it is pouring down here, and has been all afternoon.
All the best
Rain is good but sometimes we get too much of it all at one time, sort of like Florida.
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing your rain and your VOICE!!! Was this the first time I've heard you speak? I love it!
