Osprey on Nature Friday

 


While we walked Beau at Bray Park on Sunday May 7th, the Osprey nest is still occupied, we saw Mama and babies, could not get the cell phone to focus that high up.

I found these photos in my archives. The park was full of huge black crows, and we saw a few ducks.

    The one looks like maybe a Moorhen. Great shot of the Osprey and enormous nest! I have heard that hawk nests can weigh hundreds of pounds.

    Awesome photos. I've never seen a duck like the one with the red bill.
    That is one impressive looking nest.

    The "duck" with the red bill is a Common Gallinule (Gallinula galeata), sometimes referred to as a Moorhen. Great to see the Ospreys doing well.

    We have babies in all our bird houses here at Irving. I can never get good pics so I quit trying. It's still exciting to hear the babies crying for food and watch the parents feeding them!
