Recently, I sighed up for Netflix. I decided I could not stand another,
murder, rape, AK 47 firing, war with bombs falling, and last but not least car chase scenes.
We have in all our years of Prime Movies seen the good ones that left the bad ones.
TV shows leave us cold, except for 3 or 4.
Friday night we watched the Book of Henry.
After about 30 minutes, I said do we want to watch this? Bob said let's see where it goes...
We stayed and I said to Bob at the end.
This was the best BAD movie we have ever watched. I liked it. A Lot!
Saturday night was The Starling with Sunday St Vincent.
We both agreed we liked both movies, but they were 2nd and 3rd Best Bad Movies.
We found two actors we have not seen before and liked both of them.
Jaden Martell, Christ O'Dowd and were impressed with them.
Melissa McCarthy , is a great actress, but some of her movies are a bit to much in the slapstick comedy for me.
At least these 3 movies had a STORY. Most of the new movies are just people doing stuff with no story line or with a story line that leaps from year to year and back again and we don't know what the story is.

ReplyDeleteNot an easy task! I am thinking of getting Britt Box as I love the accents and they seem less gory but with a good story line.
I tend to like cooking competitions, especially the Great British Baking Show. And I love movies with foreign accents.

ReplyDeleteIn the end, there are only really three storylines; romance, family and murder/mayhem. How they get retold over and over is what determines which we watch and which we don't. YAM xx
It seems like every time I decide to try and watch a movie I can only get about 15 minutes in and then I can't stand it anymore. It's been a long time since I've seen a good movie. The last two I wanted to watch weren't available on the streaming apps that I have access to.

ReplyDeleteIt seems to be hard to find good shows to watch. I have Britbox now and watch all the detective shows. I have not heard of any of these movies, I do not stay up to date with new movies. Take care, enjoy your day!
I enjoy most movies because I fall asleep about 10 minutes in.

ReplyDeleteWe tend to watch the same old, same old network shows, then complain about the 'woke' or 'dumbed down' content. Don't get me started on the commercials (LOL); remember when advertisements used to be entertaining?

I don't think I've heard of any of these. As I have Netflix, I might check them out. - I rather like Bill Murray... Groundhog Day is one of my old comedy favourites, and another is What About Bob (I have both of those on DVD)...

We have quite a few Starlings that like our back lawn. they really are pretty with their iridescent feathers. They do think they are the Boss of the yard!

I am a birdwatcher, and did not know about the stars!! I also never heard of any of these movies. I HAVE heard of Melissa McCarthy. I agree about the slapstick! We subscribe to BritBox and adore it. NO ONE does mysteries better than the English. I have a pad with a list of so much stuff that I want to watch on BritBox that it is several pages long.

ReplyDeleteOur kids have Hulu, and I keep getting that and Netflix confused!! I think Hulu was one of the first streaming channels.

ReplyDeleteIt is hard to know what to watch when faced with the selection on a streaming service. So often it is a complete lottery what you end up with. It's the szme on aeroplanes these days. I watched one called Women Talking that I enjoyed, but it would not be for everyone. F

ReplyDeleteI have seen only 1 of these 3 films, The Starling. We watched part of St Vincent and it wasn't to our liking so didn't finish. I saw The Book of Henry and may give that one a try as you said you eventually enjoyed it. We watch much more on AcornTV and BritBox streaming because we enjoy many English murder mysteries and the accents too. There are also quite a few Australian series. Every time I've tried to watch something on Amazon Prime there is an additional cost over the Prime membership, so I never even try there.
