Going up to that Spirit in the Sky

June 10th, this was the view of the sky with my back to the rising sun. The reflections off the clouds out over our beaches, were glowing with color, even though when I turned to look back, the sunrise was not much to look at.

As Beau and I walked  June 12th the sky was ok but nothing to take a photo of and as I stared at it, a music only of a song I have not heard in years, was playing in my head. I could feel the beat and tried to sing it and All I could sing was going up to _____ in the sky. Could. Not.Remember.Spirit.

Came home and typed in Going up to the what in the sky and up it popped and now I am driving bob nuts listening.

do you hate it, love it, or have no feelings at all. The sky is our walking companion each morning at sunrise.. NEVER tire of it, bob is on the hate it list.

  1. I think you are underselling those skies, Sandra. They appear both dramatic and lovely to me.

  2. I remember this song very well. But I never knew who sang it and never saw this video. Of course I had to listen again to get the words. The palm trees in front of the yellow clouds are beautiful!

  4. Beautiful skies! I'd never heard the song before, but now I can understand how it could get into your brain on a never-ending loop.

  6. Hello,
I like the song, I have not heard it in a long time.
Your sky captures are beautiful, pretty clouds and colors.

  8. I remember Spirit in the Sky! ... but never paid too much attention until a few years ago. I attended a graveside 'homegoing' for a sweet little old lady and was so surprised when her daughter announced the song she was about to play was something P. had requested be played at her funeral. Never thought about the lyrics in quite the same way again!

  11. Love your sky photos but could only watch half a minute of the video as that version of it gave me a headache. I remember the song and looked up the lyrics elsewhere though. - Just received news today that an old friend of mine passed away in cancer recently, only 62 years old... (We got to know one another 50 years ago through a youth gospel choir back when I was 20 and she 12!)

  13. I remember that song, but that video was giving me a headache to watch. A bit too psychedelic for me.

  14. The sky was spectacular! I've noticed many times that the sunset or rise itself is nothing much to look at but if I turn around and look at the clouds that the sun is reflecting on it's a "WOW" moment. I'm sure that'll preach if I was smart enough to make a connection with a good lesson using that.
I remember the song too. Pretty much ambivalent about it but I think it glorifies God and His majesty? Wouldn't swear to that. As long as it's not disrespectful, it's all good.
    Love. πŸ’“

  17. Love the clouds! They are so beautiful! I love seeing God's beautiful majesty in the skies. And yes, I remember that song. It's an interesting song for one that was a popular "rock" song. We had some wild storms here this evening...but thankfully Still Waters Pond is looking much happier! So we are thankful that no real harm was done and the birds and critters are happy! I hope this week will bring you more SMILES!! Praying.
