Daily Life as Caregiver (POO)

On the way to Publix, a man is caving a giant tree stump into a Octopus, with tenacles wrapped around a sea horse, a star fish. Its been months. I have to get out of the car to get the head of octopus, will do that when it is done.

For those of you who don't remember, POO is making a post out of Perfectly Ordinary Objects.

Sunrise from front porch. Joy!

I have dropped to much weight and Google gave healthy ways to gain weight, one of which was
CORNBREAD. I do love it. I cook, and then scoff a big piece and then put half in a container and half in freezer and between meals it's Happy Cornbread Time~

Standing watching the workers who have been working on the house of 7 cars across the street, I spied with my little green eyes this view of the front porch. Dan moved the bench to make room for the wheel chair ramp.. Now I can see it from inside.

Caregivers are Super Heroes, in comfortable clothes, that do the dishes by lamplight.

  4. I do love Cornbread and I really like it when it has corn and jalapenos in it. yum! You are so right, being a caretaker means you have to be very creative in the way you do things. I do hope you are taking care of yourself and eating right. This is so important not only for Bob but for you. Enjoy your day Sandra.

  5. That's a pretty incredible work of carving!
Love the sunrise and the view from the window.
When I was young we had cornbread but it was called Jonnycake. It was cut in half, put in a bowl, milk poured over it and sprinkled with sugar. I hadn't thought of that for a long time. Did you ever hear it called that or have it served that way?

  8. I like the carvings of the tree stump and with a stump that size that’s a good way to disguise it. I like your outside sitting area.
Caregivers are heroes. It’s hardwork and most don’t fully understand the energy and work it takes unless they are doing it themselves. Continue taking care of you as well and if that means cornbread, then so be it.
I still need to check out those lamps on Amazon! ❤️

  10. Creative way to deal with the remnants of a big old tree. I'm not sure I've ever used cornmeal (not really traditional here) but I'm using a lot of oats products now...

Have a blessed day and week. Big hug to you, scritches to Beau and prayers for Bob. ♥

  17. Oh, your cornbread sounds good. Do you have a special recipe, or do you use Jiffy corn muffin mix? We love cornbread with stews and soups. I use Jiffy, it's quick and easy. My MIL didn't like it because it had sugar in it. She preferred the old southern style with white cornmeal and no sugar. It was okay, but tended to be a little bitter sometimes, although I always ate it when she made it with her homemade soups. Now I want some.
I love that carving! That's quite an endeavor! Please keep us updated on it. I love the sunrise and your little view of the garden bench outside your front porch. Looks pretty and sweet...a happy place. And I love the idea of washing dishes by lamplight. I've even done it by candlelight, but then I always have to inspect the dishes in a bright light before I can put them away, because sometimes I miss spots. LOL. But it was fun doing it that way...very relaxing. You are definitely a super hero! Please take care of yourself and keep eating anything that helps you keep some meat on your bones. (((HUGS))) You are very precious to all of us. I enjoyed your POO's today. Fun way to think of it.

  21. Hmmm, Tom mentioned me making cornbread just the other day! I'm so glad you're making time to "treat" yourself that way.

  22. That wood carving is really cool. I like cornbread but haven’t had it in a long time

  23. I bake cornbread in a iron skillet...the kind without sugar. I bake the kind with sugar in a regular baking pan...or, since moving here in a foil pan. Roger likes both...or did at one time.

I always wanted to try to carve something in a stump but never had the chance.
