The Day the Light Bulb in the Closet went out

I flipped the light switch to the walk in closet and it came on and poof was gone. Fretting and Fussing I said Now what do I do?
I can't reach that bulb, I am to short by a foot or two!
I can't climb a ladder, I am not that bold,
I am really, really way to OLD.
I said to Bob, I can't stand on the top step of the ladder, I will fall over..
I dragged it out and and around Beau Rover.
The closet was dark, I could not see,
I grabbed the lantern, and laughed with glee.
The shelving was just right, I could hold on to that,
Which would steady me well and keep me from falling flat.
I descended safely, and flip

ped the switch,
and shouted you did it, you crazy old witch.
Today I changed a light bulb!!

Christmas Present
and

Christmas Past and Santa's you may have missed

  3. I love your poetry in the harrowing situation of changing a lightbulb that was too high and in the dark closet. Hurray! YOU DID IT!! So proud of you!! Amazing what seems like a simple task becomes a monumental challenge at our age! Things we used to be able to do with no problem are now like climing Mount Everest! But you did it!! Smart girl!!! And I LOVE the Santa Bob pictures and the others on the beach...so happy to have those fun memories. Happy to see your smiling face here today. We miss you when you aren't here. (((HUGS)))

  7. How clever you are! Even cleaning our ceiling fan blades takes on a level of trepidation that didn't used to be here.
These images of Christmases Past are so cute! I hope they brought a smile to your face, like they just brought to mine.

  12. Oh my gosh!! Even holding onto a shelf sounds frightening to me! I fell the other night just trying to put my underpants on! Did not get hurt.

  13. You definitely are wonder woman and find a way to solve the problem.
    Fantastic poem too.
Changing light bulbs can be daunting as well as the furnace/air conditioner filter which is in our ceiling. I'm too short and hate heights and since Dave has developed a hunch back looking up over his head makes him dizzy and unbalanced. Between the 2 of us we manage to get it done, but I think I am going to have to recruit our son when he is here.
Glad to see you back and I love the picture of you, Santa Bob and surfing Beau.

  15. Good for you! I haven't changed one in years, but that's because there's nothing to hang on to. Andy now says it's also no longer safe for him to change them either. In our case the management changed the latest to go out with no fee. Hurray, Sandra!
