I have seen several different types of butterflies but no monarchs yet. My fennel has been home to the black swallowtail... I brought one caterpillar inside to protect him from the cardinals and he is in the pupal stage now. Then found two more young stages of the same and they are feasting safely inside on the fennel. The pupal character has a few more days before emerging.

Here I have seen a zebra swallowtail with just a splash of red between his flowing wing tails but none like this. This butterfly has such beautiful eyes... that iridescent green!srphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11751987787364198318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-69124430368522240282010-06-28T05:47:16.980-04:002010-06-28T05:47:16.980-04:00The Zebra Longwing is beautiful. I love the water, boats, and reflections! Wow to the zebra!!! I've never seen one, what great pictures! Now you need to find one at dusk, go snooping for a drowsy one! The one picture shows that little bit of red, and on a closer look, the tiny knobs on the end of his antenna are RED!!!! Girlfriend, you and me need to go outside, scoop up a bunch of pollen, and use it in our cooking!Ginny Hartzlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09329131153403895625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-53089218316945503732010-06-26T12:49:40.238-04:002010-06-26T12:49:40.238-04:00Wrong address...www.melange1.blogspot.comWrong address...www.melange1.blogspot.comBeverlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07269872465115056916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-29312675277748734342010-06-26T12:42:37.260-04:002010-06-26T12:42:37.260-04:00Fantastic header.Great butterflies
