There is a beekeeper at the farmers' market that I talk to regularly. We were talking about the Africanized bees awhile back, so far they have not gotten this far north.SquirrelQueenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00634513897599275287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-48228168490536532992010-08-09T21:11:30.205-04:002010-08-09T21:11:30.205-04:00I could actually only comment on one of your post ...I could actually only comment on one of your post via my phone..sooo, don't go getting yourself stung now! I hope they don't come here, I can't run! I would have to SLINK away. Well, for at least ten years we've been hearing about these bees, encroaching on the country, getting more and more. But whatever happened? Did they slow down for awhile? That used to be all anyone talked about, but years ago. It is bad because you can't tell them apart from the others! And if they cross mate (do they?) they will be crazy bees. You need to research this on Wikipedia or something. I think they are killer bees because regular ones won't bother you unless you really threaten them. Killers will attack anything that moves. Do they have hives, I think they may live in the ground. What about Baby's digging? You need to find out what kind of places they like to live, look for where they come and go from so you can find out (with binoculars or a big zoom lens)! Gosh, if the sky isn't falling, then the bees are!!!! Too bad the sky doesn't fall on THEM!!!Ginny Hartzlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09329131153403895625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-68996348574268597112010-08-09T15:13:56.385-04:002010-08-09T15:13:56.385-04:00Now killer bees. When they sting they release a pheromone that smells like bananas. This causes the others to become aggressive and they then swarm. They only attack if the colony is threatened.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13326013158100328181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5435521207575893989.post-3623551843274405892010-08-09T11:48:09.174-04:002010-08-09T11:48:09.174-04:00Very sharp for taking pictures off the tv.
