Kitchen Adventures Post 4

this is my grandmothers plate, I have two of these. I wish all my depression was the same color.

My mother always told me If wishes were horses all beggars would ride..... she meant wish on...

I priced this plate on line at 34.00. Now when I need a gallon of milk in the near future I can sell it and get two gallons.

Wait! this is not a dish!!! but it is in my Kitchen and was in the way of the snapping camera.

I just LOVE what sunshine does to any and everything.....

  3. I had a bad experience with iOffer. Many years ago in Denver I got to be an extra in a movie they were filming downtown. I've looked everywhere for a dvd of that and finally found one at iOffer. I sent the seller a money order and she kept the money and never sent the video. What a sweetie! I contacted the company and reported her and by the time I had done that, they had kicked her off their site and blacklisted her. Which was great except I never got my money back. Little brat.

But....I'm loving that dish. Glad it worked for you.

  5. I found a beautiful pink depression bowl and snatched it for $1.50! Priced about the same as yours online. At least we both can get a little milk.

  6. Love how you notice sunshine and shadows! 'Cause we both love to notice, the same thing.

Who can say they never have anything, to snap a pic of? If there is not true sunshine, doing magic... There is the 'light shadow' from electric lights... Or the variations of color, produced by the Natural world...

ALWAYS something interesting to snap! "Auntie" sezzzzzz... And Sandra does toooooo! :-)

  8. Yes, I love sunshine too, and I sure hope we see some of it today. I too love the light and shadows!!

I had never seen a yellow depression glass before. That would have looked great with my lemon cookies on it, Sandra! It is absolutely beautiful. So glad you showed us.

Speaking of prices, I bought a QUART of paint last night. Over $15.00. The last time I bought a GALLON of paint, it was $23.00. And they say there's no inflation?? Good grief, it wasn't that long ago that a gallon of good paint was $16.00.

  10. I like the delicate colour and pattern of your plate. Plants that hang down are so interesting and produce great shadows.

  11. Beautiful plate! Beth told me her parents owned an antique store when she grew up so she saw many of these beautiful older plates and many other cool things. Your pics are amazing....you have quite the eye for finding just the right way to snap really good ones!

  16. Sandra, I have a similar plate and love that color. Also, a pink one, which is pretty too. Was your mother English (I ask because of the "If wishes were horses...")?

  17. Hi Sandra, We have those plates ...12 of them . They were my paternal Grandmothers. I have passed those onto my daughter and she loves them. They have 12 dessert plates, too.We are missing a couple of coffee cups, too. I was surprised when I saw your photos this morning. I used to know the pattern name but have forgotten. But I know they are getting to be very expensive.I am glad you had a photo of them this morning. Brought back memories of them all at my Grandma's.

  18. I have several plates and cups in depression glass. Most are in green and a few in pink. Love the yellow or vasilene color. Wish I had more.
I'm afraid that when we moved I packed a lot of that kind of thing away and it is still in boxes in our garage. Somehow I just can't get into cluttering up my hutch with all the knick knacks again. I do miss seeing them though.
    Love your shadow shots too.
    Have a great day Sandra.

  19. Very cool plant shadow, but I love the golden plate!!! And forget about all matchy matchy!! Shabby chic is totally cool, beautiful pieces all unmatched. Each different and it's own wonder to look at. Like Fiesta Ware can be different colors, not just one.

  20. Beautiful piece, Sandra... But--if prices keep on rising, you won't even be able to buy ONE gallon of milk for $34.00... ha ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  21. That's a pretty plate but I always thought that the color of depression was blue. Get it depression? Blue? ha ha ha. OK, I think I may be in need of some sleep

  22. The plate is so pretty! And I wouldn't care about it matching. I love mixing things up. :) Scary about the milk and many other things.

  24. The plate is very pretty! And you know what - I realize that you are my sunshine girl photographer!

  25. Like TWGirl the plate brought back memories for me too. My grandmother had this in pink. She would always put it on the table when there was company for Sunday dinner.

I love all your sunny photos. Our weather is like a broken record, freezing fog and temps just below freezing. It's been that way for a week and looks like we have at least one more week of it coming.
