Many faces of Hisbiscus


 More January blooms, hibiscus love our winters. This is a hybrid double orange and for some reason, it has two different type flowers that appear. this is the first time they appeared on the same stem...

    I have a bush out front of those. I pulled up and killed another one last year. They're not my favorite flower. But at certain times of the year here, they can be very pretty.

    That is fascinating that both are on the same stem.
    Such beauties.
    The picture of the hibiscus on my blog was taken in Southern California in December.
    They wouldn't do well here in Northern Cal. this week.
    We have been waking up to temperatures around 23F. and hard frost.
    In fact it was so cold that moisture in front of the side doors at church never melted and when church was to begin at 4:15PM Saturday afternoon, they couldn't let anyone go in those doors, too dangerous. We had guys out there with blow torches melting the ice.
    During this special weekend of 6 services we had 17,000 people on campus. Couldn't have any of them slipping and getting hurt.
    Ahhhhh....Sunny California!!

    Clever how one blooms, then the next starts to come out on this hybrid and they look like unidentical twins. Pretty colours.

    That seems unusual to have two colours on one plant,but very pretty. It's like having a small bouquet right there.

    Hibiscus blooms are pretty no matter what condition they are in....My favorite out of today's photos is the next to the last one. It's fabulous...

    Hibiscus grew everywhere in our Los Angeles neighborhood, but I never saw any as glorious as these.

    Woof! Woof! Hibiscus here is year round. Mom is just amazed how BIG (she means BIG) they can grow. On guys in our subdivision got the largest and colorful hibiscus. Always makes us smile when we go for a walk. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

    That is amazing that the two colors are sharing the same stem. The colors blend together beautifully. I don't think hibiscus would like the winters here, we dropped down to 19 last night.
