It's January and we have Blooms. I found these two flowers
the pot was nothing but dirt, Bob started watering it to see what it would do, it had Moss Rose in it and they died. Or so we thought.
Don't you fret I will keep you posted on what this ugly pot does. Oh YES I will!
Isn't it odd that those tiny flowers that look so ugly in the pot below, Macro turns them into Beauty.\
There is a moral to this story, I am thinking we need to take a closer look at people who appear to be not worth a closer look..... Put our Mind on Macro and pay close attention. No telling what we will find.
I noticed the sun shining through the hibiscus and decided the backside was also worthy of a photo.
While trying to get behind the flower without touching it I got this accidental shot below. Can you find Bob and Jake? Bob was washing the tennis ball after Jake's 3 pm game... while you know who was in the bushes with and attack of Macro-itis
Pretty blooms. I like what you said about giving folks a "second" or closer look.
ReplyDeleteWe have our windows open today - it's 71 now and the cats are listening to the birds sing!
Beautiful reflections in your pool, too.
i've been trying to figure out if you were changing up your posting schedule. some intention, others not. :)
ReplyDeleteThe are beautiful shots. I do love moss roses, we have a few that come up each summer but my memories of them are from growing up in Chicago. My dad had them every year!
ReplyDeleteThe hibiscus could not be more beautiful. I could take a swim in that pool! I wish ours was open!
ReplyDeleteSo cheerful to see blooms this time of year. It is pretty gray here in Indiana! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the last photo! I can see Jake looking at you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the macro and I like your thought of applying it to people as well!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms Sandra! That tiny little yellow one is Yellow Oxalis and it is a little wildflower. Most people consider it a weed.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to come here and see flowers in January.
ReplyDeleteAmazing you have these in the dead of winter, especially the Hibiscus. The front of it is my favorite picture. And this last one is my next favorite. There is just something SO cool about it!! Here are just a FEW things:
ReplyDelete1.The domestic scene of the house, and it has the tree shadow on it.
2.The cool reflection in the pool.
3.Bob looks really neat bent over with his beautiful white hair and that aqua short.
4.The aura of the whole thing, you know someone is in the shadows watching and it adds a sense of fear or mystery or anticipation. Of course we know it is you, this is for someone just seeing this picture and knowing nothing.
Now to the point, I think you should take up stealth snapping, it will be endlessly amusing for all of US.I know it might make you a bit nervous at first, but you will get USED to it!!
Gorgeous blooms in your yard!!! And It looks like yours always grows back in more healthy.
ReplyDeleteI am looking at the pool - I want it - that looks so wonderful!

Macro does bring out so much beauty.Have a great rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter that it showed up early. It was a great treat either way or day.
ReplyDeletehow lovely blooms this time of year!
ReplyDeletegorgeous shots of hibiscus and moss rose. your place looks so inviting!
lovely house and pool!
Wonderful macros and I love that shot of you hidden in the bushes and looking across the pool at Bob and Jake!
ReplyDeleteLook at your pretty flowers! We have snow in January. Snow snow and more snow. Oh yea, and some cold too. :(

Believe it or not, we have flowers in bloom as well. They're not supposed to be blooming, but they are. I don't know what will happen if winter decides to come for a visit.
ReplyDeleteO Sandra, so beautiful and delicate! January can be kind to us...

I've done that before, watered old planters that I had forgotten about. You found some really nice surprises in this pot. Mamabug is right about the Yellow Oxalis. It is a beautiful little wildflower but it will take over a lawn.
ReplyDeleteThat hibiscus is gorgeous!
Ah, how lovely to have blooms in January. :))
ReplyDeleteYou draw words of wisdom, from your photography.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the last shot! One of those, it-just-happened shots. Which turns out to be so cooooool!
"Auntie"
MOL oops!! There are lot of those here in this house. Mom and I go with the flow now. Lovely flowers and OHMS we have such exciting news.
ReplyDeleteIn fall 2011 mom and dad bought an Adora...in the fall. It was supposed to bloom Feb. 2012...not a peep, not a bloom in fact it looked sickly.
Low and behold the entire plant is now full of blooms and we can hardly wait for Feb to show you.
Mom is taking pics of the progress.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Pretty blooms... I always enjoy seeing flowers blooming in January --since we don't have many here.
ReplyDeleteIt has been very warm --so many of our Spring flowers are beginning to grow... Scary since we will have more winter to come I'm sure...
Happy Sunday to you.
Hugs,
Betsy
Sandra, I use macro on people all the time...it's the layers beneath that count!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms! I looked and looked for some flowers around our house yesterday to take pictures of my daughter outside but there was NOTHING blooming this time of year and there NEVER is! lol
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize just how close the pool is to your back door! I'd be scared I'd walk straight out into the pool! lol
Lovely shot's of the hibiscus - they're one of my fav flowers/bush. The 'accident' photo is great, the reflections in the pool is cool.
ReplyDeletethat last shot is my favorite..the flower...reflections in the water...Bob...great combo..
ReplyDeleteComing to your blog is about the only sun shine I have had in a few days... I miss the blooms of flowers.... I look forward to the blooming of May flowers. I did find a caterpillar on my patio the other day...same thing happened last year and we had an unseasonably warm Spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration to use our spiritual "macro lens" when we look for the beauty in others."
