Cards from the past - Part 1

Sharing my favorite note cards from 2004.

Do you think in miles or minutes? If someone ask you how far it is to Wal-Mart do you say 6 minutes or 3 miles?

Kitchen Shelf

I almost always reply with how long it takes to get there.
But, I do know how many miles it is to
CVS, Doctor, YMCA, Nursing home, Wal-Mart, library, Selby Gardens, Jungle Gardens...
I know in MILES and Minutes...

I seem to be obsessed with how many miles it is to every where I go... but my obsessive compulsive self is another post

  1. Such pretty flowers! I do time because I am not good at estimating distance.

  2. I speak in minutes...don't know the exact miles to anywhere but know almost to the mile to a few.

I will be interested in your obseessive, compulsive self...

  3. Both. But when I was in Los Angeles area for 20 months, it was minutes. And on the freeways sometimes hours depending on the time of day you choose to drive on said freeways. I learned to drive with what time it was during they day - and especially morning and later afternoon. You don't get a break at night. I once got into a traffic jam in Hollywood at midnight!

  5. Beautiful flowers to start another winter day. lol

I grew up with miles, not minutes. I grew up giving cardinal directions, not landmark directions. But now I try to adjust to whomever I'm giving the information. Some people have no idea where north is and miles mean nothing to them. Then again, minutes may mean nothing to them. It depends upon whether they're driving a car or a tractor or a bike or walking. lol

  7. Oh another O/C person!!!!

We are super-wonderful, are we not?

    -grin-

We have to believe it, of ourselves. 'Cause all those non-O/C people out there, pick on us, so much.

    -gigggles-

And I guess I say miles..... Although I am a terrible navigator and can't tell someone, how to get "TO" most anywhere. I just go BLANK. -sigh-

I always say "in minutes" - I rarely know the mileage. I also NEVER know the names of streets, only landmarks!!! It drives the men in my family NUTS!!!

  17. Beautiful note cards... Love the flowers!!!!!

I tend to do miles ---and never even think about how long it takes to get there, unless it is an appointment or something. I can guess it--but mostly just know the miles.

I don't even wear a watch anymore...(Quite different from my working years!!!)...

    Hugs,

  19. Cards 5 and 6 are my favorite! Did you make these cards just for the computer, or are they ones you got in the mail? Did you JUST put the palm and cross on your header, or have I been missing it because I stare at the bunnies? It is so much easier for me to know how long it takes to get somewhere, many times I just don't know the miles. Unless we go over the mountain to Charlottesville, I konw 25 miles because the signs always tell me and it is fried into my brain.

  30. Your cards are pretty! I think in minutes. Good question!

I was busy all day and it was my dad's birthday, so we were busy all night as well. :) It was a fun evening...baby steps. :)

  31. All of the cards are gorgeous.
I do both, but usually miles, depending on who I'm talking to and the destination. When we lived in the Portland area I always used miles because the time depended on time of day and which route, it could take minutes or hours if you got stuck in traffic.
