I use Google Reader every single day and now it will be GONE on July 1. OH NO what will I do.
If you do not use Reader how do you view the blogs you read.
TexWisGirl just sent me this LINK on possible sites we can use, it also explains why they are doing away with Reader... Thanks Theresa
I have been reading that too Sandra. My question is which reader - I have a google reader on my internet page and a google reader on my blog page. I have been doing some investigation too.

Wellwellwell---they just keep on trying to make things harder for us bloggers. I read the alternatives ---and they don't really sound like what we bloggers are looking for. Seems to be more about the 'news'.... Huh?????
ReplyDeleteI use my dashboard more than the reader anyhow ---so unless they do away with the dashboard, I'll be okay. I also am enjoying getting posts via email...
BUT--don't think I'll be using any of the new options unless they are better than the description says!
Good Ole Blogger... Just keep on changing things making it harder for us...
Hugs,
Betsy
Google really is the devil, I tell ya! But I use the dashboard, so hopefully, I'll still be ok. If not, I'll figure something out.
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what Google Reader is and what it does. Am I missing out on something? I read blogs every day.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, they snatch our pictures and put in their Images file for anyone to use for FREE! I'm not a fan of google, but what can you do? I'll check out T's link too. She is good at all this stuff. I only use the Reader when I want to check in on blogs I don't follow every day. Those I follow every day I have listed under my favorite blogs in my sidebar.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you, sis! I know it is awful to lose a computer program that you love! I have never gotten onto Google Reader and never liked it as much as just going down my sidebar and clicking each one, for me that it much more simple. If I have any special ones that I want to find FAST like yours, I make an icon. My computer guy says icons take up no computer space.
ReplyDeleteI was dismayed to see this news too!
ReplyDeleteThis morning I migrated over to feedly.com and it accepted all of my feeds and subscriptions with little hassle. Now I just have to figure out how to work the thing.
I use a reader called 'Sage' and like it a lot...
ReplyDeleteI saw this yesterday and am somewhat concerned as to how I will read blogs. I will check out some of the links given here.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am so old tech that I never got into Google reader.
ReplyDeleteI use my favorites and those listed on my sidebar. They are my regulars. I find that works for me.
I hope you can find an app that works for you and your many followers.
gonna keep playing with feedly. hoping it'll become the norm.
ReplyDeleteI use Reader all the time, but I guess I'll have to try something else. I've begun following blogs by email, but not all blogs offer this option.
ReplyDeleteI don't use reader. I just use dashboard and email alerts. I hope this doesn't mess up everyone's blogs!
ReplyDeleteI gave up on these net places, which say they will show you new posts, on blogs-you-love. :-(((
ReplyDeleteOn my Sidebar, you will see a link to "My Little Posse" blog. From this link, I can go to my PRIVATE blog, where the blogs-I-love-to-read, are listed.
There, I use a Blogger thingy, and it shows me when a new post is put on each of my blogs-I-love-to-read.
Easy! Simple! Accessible! Private! Love it! Don't know why everyone doesn't do it! ,-)
"Auntie"
The Blogger "thingy" which I use, is a Blogger Gadget, called 'Configure Blog List.'
ReplyDeleteIt helps if I don't just call stuff, a BLOGGER THINGY. lol...
I just have my comments sent to email and I read blogs from my list.
ReplyDeleteI am gonna have to figure out how to save my blog before they kill it too.
I saw this message today too. I have been using the google reader both on the computer and on my phone. It's very annoying when they keep changing things that are working... I suppose there will be some other similar reader available though. I'm more irritated just now about changes that Google seem to be making with Picasa, my preferred picture editing tool... All my images used to show up there automatically and now they don't, I have to go roundabouts to collect those I want to edit. I suspect Google wants to collect everything to Google+ which I have not yet joined...
ReplyDeleteI saw that and wasn't sure how it would effect me. Then I saw where some are using dashboard reader which I do also so maybe I will be OK. I do hope you find a solution.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky I guess. I tried GR for a while and I didn't care for it that much. I didn't like going back and forth. But that might have been cleared up since I used it. I just like going down the sidebar and clicking on each one. Sometimes I use the Dashboard and though I don't mind it, I still like the old way better.
ReplyDeleteMom doesn't use google reader...she has the blogs she reads bookmarked.
ReplyDeleteLove your header.
My sis and her hubby are coming tomorrow...Mom has been dusting and spit polishing the house. She is tuckered out now
Hugs madi
I scheduled a post about the same thing for tomorrow. I can't believe they are getting rid of reader
ReplyDeleteI use my dash board. I would be devastated if one day we read blogger will be gone. It happened with AOL. But I will not jump that far ahead. :-/
ReplyDeleteI don't use Reader. I like roaming around and clicking link to link. I keep folders in favorites on my computer.
ReplyDeleteI don't use it much, but I think Blogger is going to be changing too, one of these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the alert as I don't use Reader so haven't received this notification. I usually read from my dashboard sidebar and scroll back to catch up. Just as you get used to one system it's snatched away, but just have to take it as it comes and hope we can all still communicate somehow with alternatives.
ReplyDeletei use my blog roll all the time, but i think i'll have to try something else.
ReplyDeleteAny time we get attached to something along come Google to take it away. Oh well, I use the dashboard most of the time anyway so I won't miss it.
