Typical, I am NOT..or Odd Me...

Photos taken January 2014 in back yard.

A few things about me and you will see I am not the Typical Stereotype Female.

I ........
rather go on a Picnic than eat in a nice restaurant.

choose Pizza or Burgers for my birthday meal...

Rather TALK than Listen..... Teach than be taught...

I have never owned any thing name brand... not even a dog, all our dogs are mixed breed rescue. I saved my first rescue from animal control at age 8.

The only musicals I have seen are West Side Story when I was a teen and suffered all the way through it and Fiddler on the Roof when my friends teens were in a high school play.

I have never watched Wizard of Oz or The Sound of Music...but have seen pieces of each.

I  shop when I need something and do the point A to point B at record breaking speeds.

I rarely talk on the phone....

Bob's Bucket Garden has been taken over by our ferns... they love the cool air and sunshine.

No purse for past 10 years... although  when I worked, I had one that I bought at Wal-Mart to carry What If Needs for the long days.  I used the purse until it fell a part, then got another one, and have never paid more than 10 dollars for one

to be continued .........if you still love me that is....

  5. I've always had mixed breeds until I was given a "name brand" as a Christmas gift. Like people, I guess mixed or otherwise, they are all worthy! Dogs of mixed breeds raised me. :) They also ate table scraps and lived to be 17 and 18 years old. :)

  6. I've never seen West Side Story or the whole of Fiddler on the Roof. But I have seen Sound of Music and the Wizard of Oz (the movies). Musicals aren't really my favourite either. I rarely eat out, if I do it's usually for lunch. I don't chat a lot on the phone either. I do carry a purse, though!

  7. Interesting...I very seldom carry a purse...just if we are traveling for the most part. I don't talk on the phone very much...sure not compared to most women...and I don't text as they do now....just to the girls a little bit some nights. And I am texting from my email, not from a phone...but it goes to their phones.

  11. I think that's why I love coming to your blog too.
    You spice up the day.
    Don't ever change!
They say opposites attract and i do so many of the things you don't.
I carry a purse, love musicals and have seen them all, don't have pets but have fallen in love with the Granddaughters labradoodle.
Not into name brands either. I do like to eat out at restaurants but am definitely satisfied with pizza or burgers. Rather Listen than talk and hate to talk on the phone. Don't enjoy shopping and spending time at the Mall is pure agony for me.
    Do I still Love You?
    Of course!!!
Can't wait for the next installment.

  12. True you are not typical but you also sound unburdened which can be freeing! Love ferns, one of my favorites.....

  13. You sound a lot like me. My late husband said he loved the fact that I was so low maintenance. I too prefer pizza and burgers and picnics in nature over a fancy restaurant. I hate talking on the phone. I had to do that too much when I was working. Just the other day my friend and I were talking about how I only have one purse. I once bought a purse when my husband and I were dating and I used that purse for 40 years. People called it my "hippie purse" and teased me about it being out of fashion. I do not wear makeup and prefer jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirts. And at age 64, I do NOT intend to change.

  15. Love visiting your blog, so keep posting. I've carried the same purse for many years as well (Until this Christmas, that is, when my son-in-law in Alaska got me a "Baggallini".) It too, is black and nylon construction. My other one, was also nylon, tough as nails, and black. Not a wear mark on it. I imagine I've carried it for close to 15 years.

  17. Good to get to know you a little better. I love that you have rescue dogs. To me that's the most novle thing a person can do! I would however urge you to watch Wizard of Oz though :)

  18. Yep, I still love you. Actually, we have a few oddities in common - especially the ability to go in a straight line from A to B in a store. But I do love musicals! :)

  19. Only watched Wizard of Oz because y given name is Dorothy and I wondered if my dad had picked out my name from the 1949 film (also my birth year). Sadly, never asked him. Never had a desire to watch The Sound of Music or some other well known musicals, but nearly wore out a soundtrack LP to West Side Story from overplaying it. Prefer not to carry a purse and will usually lock it in the car when unneeded as jeans pockets work well to hold money and keys. Hardly ever change a ruse from season to season.

  20. This is a fantastic post...shows how 'down to earth you are'!!! Really.

I haven't carried a purse for about two decades now. Just my cellphone carrier and in that the phone and card and ID. That's it. One time in Tucson, I was nearly mugged...not mugged, but some beggar came up to me and asked for my money...at the time, carrying a purse. I was alone at the gas station...gave him my money, and at that point...never a purse. :-)

  21. ps...just read your comment you left for me. The turtle in the image I posted today is on a piece of flat wood jutting out of the pond.

  22. We love ya no matter what! :) We all march to the beat of our own drum, and that's what makes everyone an individual and unique! I prefer picnics myself. I don't feel comfortable in fancy restaurants because I have a bad habit of always spilling something. Haha! Oh, one more tidbit I'll confess...I don't own a dress and haven't had one in probably 40 years. If I'm pushed to dress up a bit, I'll wear a slim skirt and jacket.

  24. But of course I still love you.
I would choose pizza for a meal any time. I can't stand musicals although I did like the Wizard of OZ when I was a kid. I hardly ever talk on the phone and when I do I usually can't hear the person I'm talking to...lol

  25. Still love you, but would love for you to exercise your preference for teaching by teaching a course on "How to survive without a purse."

  26. Aw, you know we still love you. We all march to our own drummer, it is more fun that way.

I went through a phase where I loved musicals, everything from Sound of Music to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Saw Wizard of Oz as a small child.

I have taught but also love to learn new things (I know you like that too).

I do carry a purse because I hate camera bags and have to have something to keep the camera and phone in. But only sloppy shoulder bags. If someone tries to mug me it makes a good swatting tool.

  27. Believe it or not but I have several of the same traits... I never buy name brands either---and despise it when people 'name drop' specific brands. I despise shopping also---and we get what we need (following a LIST) and get outta there. I HATE talking on the phone....I don't carry a purse anymore either...

NOW--where we differ: I love restaurants (and picnics)--but would never choose a burger or pizza place over Texas Roadhouse or Olive Garden.... ha ha

I also love musicals and have seen many, many of them --all through the years...

I'm a little shaken tonight. We had a near-miss-head-on car accident this afternoon when a car was coming straight toward us in OUR lane. We swerved and went into the ditch. Luckily, we are fine and no damage to the car --other than being dirty. BUT--we were just lucky that the ditch wasn't steep…. SCARY!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  30. I'm not a purse girl either...I carry one...but I usually buy it at the Thrift store and carry it till it falls apart...I'm on my phone a lot but mostly business...I love learning about you Madsnapper...I'm not a big shopper as in malls and such...but I do love thrift stores...antique shops....

  31. That's what makes us all special because we are all unique :) I like you exactly as you are. Enjoy your Day! I am on my 2nd day back after holidays, had a great break.

  32. Looks like yo have a lot in common with many of us. I don't like talking on the phone. I'm not one for shopping except for essentials, I have a purse (we call them handbags) but I don't use it very often. Like one of your commenters I don't wear dresses. So I'll be still following your quirky posts.
