I am busy watching tutorials on YouTube to find out what I can do with this lens.
Yes, it was the last day of January and my tree was still out, and my candles were burning.....
don't fret, I took the tree down the next day...I miss it

Louis Dean has been playing around again with his fancy camera and several lenses. I'm not sure he knows what he's doing but he's acting like a photographer!! (He's NOT!) Me - I just want the picture. YOU, my dear, I have said many, many times - are a true ARTIST with that camera of yours!!!

ReplyDeleteI have this lens too, and it's a life saver in low light, and yields amazing depth of field. Begrudged by pro's who use the more expensive 50 mm 1.4, I still think that the 1.8 is amazing for the price, and gives excellent results! Good luck with it and have fun!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting a prime lens, this is the start to a new adventure in photography. I have the 50mm f 1/4, it was and still is a lesson in progress. I have to do the zooming physically and I still have the urge to want to reach up and turn the zoom...but there is not one. I did find that about f2.2 is the sweet spot on mine, anything more wide open than that like at 1/4 everything is soft. I usually set the camera in A for aperture, set the lens on 5.6 and just go shooting to see what it will do outside. Inside, I find I like to use T mode, for shutter speed and start with 1/60 and work from there depending on the light situation. Like I said, I am still learning with this one. I took some great shots of my parrot at about f/3.3 one day and they were tack sharp. BUT...now... I tend now to put the 55-250 lens on (that is the one you have) and shoot.
ReplyDeleteThe 50mm 1/8 and the 1/4 are portrait type lens, good for some macro shots with one of those magnifying filters attached. Just about town shooting and you will have to step back some to get what you want in, it called a short lens. Like I said, practice and see what the lens will do.

ReplyDeleteYour new lens sounds interesting. I really enjoyed these pics.....some are like...hazed...some are bright and clear. I love the background on one of them....Also,seems like you can see right through the candles. You are going to have fun with this lens.
ReplyDeleteWe just took down our greens and lights over our big window in the kitchen. I guess it was time. At least, it brightened up January.
