A little Google research and I decided to eighty six the post, but then I thought why not post it, I
will just talk about everything but the kitchen sink and since every cloud has a silver lining
you might all just believe this cock and bull story.
I am betting you all have a gut feeling that I am going for broke
and way out on limb with this post.

The 2 that I use several times a week and some times daily are
Beat a dead horse when the news goes over and over and over something
and up the creek without a paddle.... I say those at least 5 to 10 times a month or more.

I am familiar with the majority of these but had not heard the circus/monkey one. I'm guessing "not my problem!"

I recently heard "not my circus, not my monkeys" but I can't remember where. I would say it means it's not my problem.

Two that I use a lot are "piece of cake" and "back seat driver"
I forget when I first heard that but I immediately adopted it into my speech. I love it. I read somewhere that it was a Polish saying.

I do love 'not my circus, not my monkeys,' meaning, no way am I going to be dragged into this issue. :-) A friend and I once had fun mixing idioms (start with one and end with the other). Fun post.

My dad has so many crazy sayings...and at least once a day one of them pops out of my mouth.
One of his favorites when asked how he was:
"Fine as wine, twice on the ball, no windows, no doors, just a hole in the wall". No clue where that came from either or what it means.

ReplyDelete"Up a creek without a paddle" is a saying I used a lot..."sweet dreams, sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite....
Oh my there are so many and lots of times I really haven't a clue what they mean but they seem to fit the situation.

I've never heard that one before but I vote for "not my problem". My favorite one lately is "cute as a bug in a rug" but then I've been hanging out at the shelter with the kittens and puppies a lot lately.
