70 Years today....

web cam selfie August 30, 2014
Can you find Bob the photo bomber?

I am 70 years old today.... the last photo of me was taken in Nov. 2012..

Can someone tell me why a selfie taken with the web cam makes our mouths and eyes do weird things? I took 20 pics trying to get one that was not weird.

I married Bob at age 40, he was 48... 30 of my 70 years, Bob has been a part of my life and my other half...  that said, I decided to share a Bob story..

See the little Opal car with sexy me on it? (ahh 40)  That Pic is 30 years old.

We were on 5th Av North, St Pete Florida and he was SPEEDING as usual, we came to his favorite Railroad Track that was up on a high hump and he gunned the motor and we went sailing up and out and slammed down on the other side....

Think Steve McQueen in Bullitt  (see video below)...

I screamed Stop, the battery is dragging... he stopped, picked it up, still attached by the battery cables, saw  2 holes in the radiator caused by the bounced battery

He  grabbed his needle nose pliers, squeezed the two holes together, propped the battery in the rusted out holder .....

He never repaired the radiator, A month later we drove that car to Savannah (378 miles one way) and the hose burst on the Interstate... He wrapped the hose in Duct Tape and there it stayed until he sold the car 4 years later...

to see what we looked like drag the slider to 1.22 and watch the last half.

  2. I take it Bob was/is not a professional auto mechanic? Is he driving you to a birthday dinner? LOVE the photos. I thought that was Esther Williams on the car and you photoshopped your head on her. Whatever, have a great day.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  15. Happy Birthday Sandra! You definitely do not look 70! I would have never known. I love the Bob story. You could write an adventure novel. I bet he can fix anything! That is a great and dying skill. What a great blog entry this is!

  20. Happy Birthday, sis!!! You were totally pin-up hot on that car!! Sizzling hot! Was Bob ever a mechanic? That is amazing!! We went to the theater when Bullit first came out and saw it. I think it is the most famous and classic car chase ever in a movie. But watching it again here while thinking of you and Bob is just hilarious!!! Watching Bullit and thinking of you both in that car at your current ages is even much funnier. I hope you are getting a Frosty of each flavor today!

  21. Happy birthday Sandra. I was living in Italy in 1968 and came withing a gnat's whisker of buying a new Opel GT when I got orders to come back to the U.S. Never did get me one of those. Loved your photos.

  23. I've only tried a webcam selfie a couple of times and was so horrified by the results that I dumped them immediately and never tried again... I prefer to use the self-timer on my camera (even if I don't like that much either!) I think with the webcam it's something about the angle that makes it weird. Perhaps.

  26. I got a number of things from this post. One, it's fun to be forty. Two, Bob must be a character. And three, duct tape can cure pretty much anything. A very happy birthday to you and wishing you many more!

  27. Happy Birthday! To one of the people that really brightens my day! I hope you have had a wonderful day...love the bob story. So, he knew about duct tape was the handiman's secret weapon long before Red Green announced the fact!

  31. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

That's a great story about the RR track and the repairs. I keep wondering if our husbands are related. Mine swears anything can be fixed with a few basic tools, duct tape and crab wire.

I love the Mustang GT Fastback from Bullitt (Steve McQueen too).

  34. Happy Birthday a day late! I laughed so much reading your story and I can relate as sometimes hubby forgets to put the brakes on good (on purpose, perhaps?) before we get to the railroad tracks. The Jeep has enough clearance so that's not a problem, but it sure bounces like crazy. I will think of you guys next time it happens. I read about your birthday above and know it was a happy one.

All the best as you join those of us who are in our 70s!
