Resurrection Ferns

The trees in Lewis Park are full of Resurrection Ferns, they only turn green when it rains.

If you want to see what it looks like after it rains, click on this OLD POST of the same thing in the trees at Emerson Point after a rain.

the ferns are not dead, when it rains, they come back to life.

Some of you may remember the Moss Rose flowers on our stump last year.
this week They resurected in this crack in the pot. I broke off all the dead ends and stuck them in the dirt and they are growing like crazy. This pot will grow again!
This is how it looks now

  3. Hello,
It is interesting the ferns survive and come back to life after a rain.
Your Moss Rose is pretty, I like the planter too. Have a great day!

  4. I remembered your resurrection fern post, but clicked on it anyway. They are pretty and delicate looking. Reminds me a bit of Boston ferns. The Moss roses seem to love the crack! Well, cracks are how the light gets in!

  7. Hmmmm....
Now I'm almost positive the huge ugly tree at the end of our road doesn't have Resurrection Ferns. I've been alternately fascinated and repulsed them.
That cracked pot art is sure something else. What a lesson one can take from its story.

  8. Hi Sandra,:=) It's amazing how the Moss Rose found a way to grow through the cracked pot, and how the fern resurrects after rain. It looks dead, and then hey presto the rain revives it. Amazing!

  12. Enjoyed your ferns and moss rose post. I ache to garden, or as Hubby calls it, "grub in the dirt." But these days it seems my planting and harvesting will involve enjoying the results of others through photos in blogs or through our van windows as we are out and about. Thanks again for my gardening "fix" of the day!

  13. We loved the trees in your park post earlier in the week (sorry we were way behind that day so no comments) but now that we know they also have these clever ferns we are even more impressed. That moss rose did so well last year it will be no time before it is blooming again.

  16. I looked at them when they were green and in bloom - with the rain - it is hard to believe.
