Gems of Wondrous Brightness

Beau and I came through the gate and the sun was trying to show us the jewels on the ground.
I took him inside came back out with my cell phone and when I went inside and showed Bob what I was photographing, He said, I see that every day, so what. It's just moss. Why do you want photos of it.
THE Standard answer from a woman to a man who asked it, is
If You Have to Ask, never mind.

That very day Ginny has a post on Let Your Light Shine, with this poem. It says it all.

There are gems of wondrous brightness.
Ofttimes lying at our feet,
And we pass them, walking thoughtless,
Down the busy, crowded street.
If we knew, our pace would slacken,
We would step more oft with care,
Lest our careless feet be treading
To the earth some jewel rare.

Rudyard Kipling

  2. Wow! It is gorgeous, a deep royal emerald! God does not skimp on his colors. Thanks for highlighting my poem. It's kind of a shame that Bob can't appreciate it.

  3. Your pictures are awesome. But your answer to Bob is perfection and so true. If you have to tell them they wouldn't understand it any way.

  5. Please tell Bob that if he would take the time to really look at moss, rather than just seeing it, a world of wonder would be revealed to him. True wonder, not the canned adrenalin served up by television.

  7. I walk slow enough to see quite a bit! I walked in the misty rain yesterday and the scent of the pine needles and leaves was wonderful...and it was so quiet!

  8. Excellent
Pardon any typos I've just returned from the eye doc. My eyes were dilated for the exam and are still returning to normal, But I can see the brilliant emerald green of the moss

  10. A shade only nature could create! ... yet it makes me think of the Emerald City. (Toto, where are you?)
That's a great poem. "Careless feet", exactly.

  11. I am mixed on moss - I love the color and it sure is unusual. However, when it takes over the grass - it's no good.

  12. We have moss growing on the brickwork that edges the flower borders and I love the texture and colour especially when you look close up. Nature sure is wonderful.

  14. Love the moss and Nature's bold colors.
It's wonderful to not just look at something but really see it.
Ginny's poem is perfect for the post.
Keep looking and seeing the world around you.

  15. My father-in-law once said to me, "You see everything in nature don't you?" This as I was looking at the details on the back of a leaf. I see this photo and it is one of the many things in nature that I love. I see what you see thankfully. And I'd say to Bob, "Oh Bobbbbbb." ;) Love Ginny's poem. I'm a big Rudyard Kipling fan.
