Sunflowers!

We saw the above Mexican Sunflower on our Sunday Ride with Beau, before the sun was up.

from my archives from 2009 show how Mexican Sunflowers look in sunshine

then wonder of wonders, I found these beauties below while coming home from eating lunch out on Thursday, and they are only a couple of blocks from where Beau and I walk.

maybe 50 beautiful Sunflowers, some as tall as 10 feet. Which do you like best? Mexican Bush of flowers or tall stately sunflowers?

  1. They are all so gorgeous! How do you tell the Mexican ones from the regular kind? I like the low bushes better because you can get real close to them, smell and touch them. But the tall ones are very impressive and stately. Your one sunflower photo in the sun is my favorite, it is gorgeous!!!

  2. This is the first time I've seen them on bushes. Our downstairs neighbor used to grow the regular sunflowers, but she moved away a couple of months ago.

How are you doing? I think of you a lot. ❤️

  5. I've always loved sunflowers but now that I see the Mexican sunflowers I think I like them even better. How awesome to have a whole bush full of the flowers.

  6. Mexican Sunflowers are new to me, but any kind of sunflower brings joy.

  7. I prefer the tall stately versions, Sandra, which is the type we grew in our VA garden years ago. I had never seen the Mexican version, so a first for me.

  10. The Mexican sunflowers I grow are red. I enjoy all types of sunflowers. They are among my favorites plus so easy to grow.

  11. Awww Sandra, I can't choose. They are both favorites of mine.
Well I made the whole house stinky this morning.
I got side tracked while frying my eggs and forgot to turn the burner off...yikes, that scared me to death..and P.U. Got the blower exhaust going the fan going and the back door open. Ugh>>>
Have to leave for my stint with Lynne in a few. Hope the smell is gone by then.

  12. I'm not sure I've ever seen the Mexican kind IRL (from the name I'm guessing I probably haven't). Always impressed by the big ones.

  13. Whew, found you!
I've never seen the bush variety but I think it's my favorite. Definitely my favorite color.
There's an attraction in Autaugaville (about 30 minutes away) called the Sunflower Fields. Tom and I went a couple years ago but it was expensive + so hot my phone actually called an SOS and requested I put it away.

  15. Oh I love these big beautiful sunflowers! They like the heat too. We're in that 'heat dome' and the showers have missed us too! Hugs!
