I'm A Little Teapot, or NOT

I am the queen of make do, and DO anything to save a penny or dollar.

The Make Do Teapot
I am a little teapot, short and stout,
I use the measuring cup, or do with out.
Fill with water and pop it in the microwave
The water boils and dollars I save.
I take my cup and add fennel tea,
I pour the boiling water in and as you can see,
with a lid that goes on unused cans of dog food,
while the tea steeps,
Two minutes to make, and 10 to steep
I have a hot fennel tea, and my make do tea set is ready and I am still cheap!
My cost free,
the cup was 50 cents, the lid was free, the measuring cup was 1.00, and owned by me,
they are old, as old as can be, and now my tea set you can see

  2. I love the ornaments in the last photo!! I make tea like this, too. Well, not exactly. But I see no need for a tea kettle when we have a microwave. I get the hot water from the coffee maker, steep a few minutes, re-heat in the microwave if needed.

  5. That's pretty much how I used to make tea except I just put the mug in the microwave. Lately I've been using my Keurig to make my tea. I let the water run through it into the cup with the tea bag.

  7. If it works and the tea tastes good, that’s all that matters. You are ingenious and a paragon of thrift. And a poet too.

  8. You're a poet! :)
I don't drink tea, if I did I might use your method.

  9. YES you are Queen of Make do and I 100% approve.
Love that song too and it reminds me of the Brownie song my daughter sang in Girl Scouts. About "having a brownie smile in her pocket"!!

  10. That lid is brilliant! The wet food we get doesn't come with those lids; I may look for a single can with one of those while at the grocery. (Not for me, but 'someone' has a tendency to drizzle his coffee.)

  11. I prefer my electric water kettle. On the other hand, I don't own a coffee machine (as I don't drink coffee).

  12. That was really a cute poem. I have the same measuring cup from Wally World. I use my Keurig for hot water. But fennel tea? Not for me. lol

Now my dear you are the Master Poet for sure...
    Thinking of you today..

  15. I have never owned a teapot either, the microwave does the trick for my Chai tea...

  17. No matter how it is made or what it is made in, that good cup of tea is delightful.

  19. I do the same thing with our glass measuring cups. I even have a 4 cup one that I use for water for my really big cup I take to work!

  20. Hi Sandra :) I have the same measuring jug and haven't used a tea pot in many years, I heat the water in a mug in the micro wave and add tea bag after, coffee is also made the same way., I enjoyed your cute poem and waste not want not attitude. Making do is to your credit a great way to save money. I'm still trying to catch up on visiting my blog friends. It will take me a while
    All the best
