Saturday Weekly UpDate ON Sunday

I decided to Take Back The Living Room from All things that do not belong in a living room. For 13 months Bob's hospital bed has been in our living room and still is. I am a neat nut. As long as STUFF is out of sight I don't really care. If I can't see it, its not there.

To accomplish this, I removed everything from the double closet in the hall you see in the first photo, its big and is as long as the hall. It is now the pharmacy, Christmas, and anything that is for Bob's illness, like the small exercise bike (it made me crazy each time I sat on the sofa).

We bought this house because the entire middle is one large room, Living Room, Dining and Kitchen, All in One! The 2 photos above, I turn my head left and the window on the world allows me to see the grass I cut yesterday and 3 houses across the street. Turn my head to the right now and the only thing is see is what you can see, but I can see the entire kitchen. The room is 25 Ft X 17 ft Wide.

The good news is, the bed doesn't bother me, or the walker, and the potty and the bedside table that does bother me with all it's NEEDED clutter is hidden by Bob in the bed.
I parked the big Curb Trash Bin on the front porch and filled it full, leaving the spare  bedroom bed with donations, soon to be at the thrift store. Below is what is left.

I did say it is a large closet, and doubles as MY power tools, Chargers for said tools, and 4 boxes of Christmas Stuff soon to be sifted and donated. The top shelf goes the entire length of the closet and actually has some space left.

I intend to switch some things by shopping every Thursday at the thrift stores which will be My Morning OUT...
Speaking of Thrift store...... hahahaha

Thursday event, went really well. I bought two items.
Remember the measuring cup from Amazon, that I can look down and see the lines? the two cup one? Well their sat the 1 cup, brand new with sticker on, just like by two cup and Sticker Price was
One Dollar, Twenty Nine Cents.

As I dressed and put on my CROC Sandals that have thin straps, and were bought in 2017, I thought, I need new Crocs, sooner or later these straps are going to break.
Once again, God put what I needed when I needed
At the thrift store, I headed for the shoes and I went to the size shoe I wear and sitting there, waiting on me, was a pair of CROCS in My Size. Perfect Fit. I was over joyed. Like New! not a mark on them.

Since I had a little time left I sallied forth to the furniture store to wander and wish and as I stepped inside, The top strap that holds my foot in the Croc Sandals POPPED IN HALF.
Can you believe it? I do..

If you are still with me, here is a a short update on the three of us.

Beau:  hind legs  not so good, walking slower and shorter distance, hind legs  spread to the sides when standing, but stay straight when walking  and he still has periodic digestive distress.

Bob: Ambulatory with walker,  will not sit on Sofa, sleeps in our bed at night, spends the day in hospital bed. Dementia is  progressing. Example: he will only drink water, 7-up and Fruit Gatorade. I will say, you need hydrate, what do you want to drink. he says soda, that means any of the three. Now I say you need to drink, do you want 7up, water or red drink.  He can't remember the names. He also forgets to drink. He is mostly confused, and thinks the 1st of Sept is Memorial day, he is thinking about labor day, and doesn't believe me when I say its not until Sept 7.  The worst thing is I love to talk and there are subjects that will set him off, and I start to say something and remember not to and he says what were you saying?

I just sit on a branch sofa and say Never Done! Never Done!  and keep on truckin

OOPS! thought of one more thing I did this week. I bought the new cup for me and it bothers me so much that Bob's Cup Doesn't Match Mine, I bought him one too.

Doesn't this look much better? I keep them both on the counter and it makes me feel
GOOD! His words were, doesn't matter to me, a cup is a cup.

OOPS 2: Today the house of 7 cars across the street, seen from my window on the world, is up for sale. Been empty 3 months and we have watched workers coming and going, and yesterday she put up a sign, and today the listing Agent put OPEN HOUSE in the front yard at 1 PM, and I waited long enough for her to get INSIDE the house to go to The Open House!

As I walked out the door, Bob said where are you  going? I said to the Open House across the street. What? he said.  Why? and I replied if I don't return you will know curiosity does kill the cat.

I returned one hour and 7 minutes later, when her 1st car pulled in the drive way. We had a blast. She is a Mirror Of Me... not as old  but close and when she found out I was selling RE and I worked for, we both talk over each other.  David G. If you made it this far you would change seats in a plane if you sat between Me and the Agent.
She invited me back to the next one....

YAY! I had a Talking Outing. We no longer get visits from Home Health and I miss talking to the PT's. I KNOW they miss me. 😁😁😁

  1. Good job getting that closet cleaned out. That’s crazy how the strap on your crocs broke as soon as you found another pair. Things never work out for me like that.
That is awesome that you had such a great time chatting with the realtor across the street. Did you check out the house at all or just chat?
Sorry to hear Bobs dementia is getting worse. I know how difficult that must be.

  2. OH, my gosh, I'm a Neat Nut too! I can tell we are related. πŸ₯Ή I do things like this too to keep from running out of the house screaming. πŸ˜‚ Disorganization and dirt make me coo coo for cocoa puffs. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I like all the changes you've made. Very nice.
Thanks for updating me via e-mail as I've quit posting or even reading any posts. I've been feeling really burned out (emotionally) since earlier this year. No one or no one thing in particular. Everything is cool here at home and Church. Just in general.
Been thinking of and praying for you all and all my blogging bud's.
    Love. πŸ’›

Oh well done on crossing the street and getting chatting with a like mind!!! Congrats on getting the new sandals just in time, getting the cupboard sorted, and those pretty, matching cups. Your two old boys are keeping you busy, no doubt about it, but I'm so glad you are finding ways to just be you in between things! YAM xx

  4. Welcome to the wonderful world of thrift shopping! It will be so good for you to do this once a week! And they always have new things and things you can repurpose. I suppose Bob won't get on the couch just because the bed is more comfortable? I love the two pretty mugs! Unbelievable about your Crocs strap!!

  5. Way to go. I don't like clutter either. We have a open and organized home.

I'm glad you went across the street to visit. A time just for you.

Have a fabulous day and week. Healing hugs to handsome Beau. ♥

  7. Way to go, gurl! I smiled all the way through your account. I'm sooooo envious of your closet space. Seriously, you'd be aghast if you saw what little I have to work with here.
Yes, the gods of thrifting were mighty good to you; do you ever wonder how those "new" articles came to be in a shop? I'm guessing the owner passed away and his/her kids didn't want to bother. Sad.

  8. This is a grand update! I'm a neat freak too and I love what you did - much better and will make you feel more content when you look around at home. I do like the matching mugs too.
God was certainly looking over you and putting what you need in the thrift store. I love that.
I think He also knew you needed a chat with someone and I'm happy you got to go to the open house and do some talking.
    Scritches to Beau!

  10. You sure have kept busy with all the organizing and purging this week. Sorry to hear Beau isn't doing too well, but I know you are doing your best for him. I'm glad you had the chance to visit with the realtor to have someone to talk to. How crazy that your Croc would break before you got out of the store with the new ones.

  14. You would have a cow trying to get our house decluttered...better not come, LOL! Sometimes I think we are a few steps away from being hoarders...esp my hubby...
Sorry about the decline of Berau, but t=it sounds like he is still enjoying life as it is.
And so sad when our loved ones decline as Bob is with dementia. You are finding wonderful ways to cope.
How sweet that you were able to have a nice long chat with the RE lady.

My prayers are for all of you to stay stable and to feel God's presence surrounding you, day by day.

  16. Well done in getting rid of clutter. It makes you feel good. That was good to hear that you had a chat with the agent. One needs to have a chatter now and then. Bad luck with the crocs better luck next time.

  17. Sandra, I would have been the model of tolerance, and smiled when I needed to and said, “uh huh” in all the right places! I am glad that you have been a bit of a whirlwind of late, and you have accomplished a lot. Forgive me while I just sit here with Miriam and we drink our coffee together in unmatched mugs. The shame of it all! David πŸ€ͺ

  18. Hello Sandra
It feels good to get things done like cleaning out the closet.
I like things organized and clean. I am sorry to hear Beau is having trouble walking. The thrift shop was a good visit, great to find the new crocs and the matching cup. It is nice you were able to chat with the realtor. Best wishes for you, Bob and Beau! Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.

  21. Well, this was a lot of fun! I love what all you did. Guess what? Your great room is the same size as ours! The kitchen and my little room with a view are off to the right side (as you come in the front door), and our Master BR is on the left. The dining area is in the front by the front window that looks out on the street, so we keep the blinds closed, and the back sliding glass doors look out on the back porch and the still very dry still waters pond! All the rain we've had still hasn't soaked all the way through to the top of the "sponge" of dry land. Anyway, I love that you are doing well and getting out once a week to go thrifting. That's a lot of fun, and how neat that you found new crocs just in time!! God knew what you would need and provided it exactly when you needed them! I love that! I also love that you went across the street to the Open House and had a good visit with the realtor! I know that was good for your mind and spirits! What fun! Now I hope and pray you get really good neighbors!!! As far as clutter, etc., goes, you probably would go crazy here with all the stuff we have, when I look around and try to decide what to get rid of, I get stuck between Nanny Martin's buffet and secretary and dining room table, Hoosier cupboard and china closet, and the myriads of dishes and knicknacks and paddywhacks that are in all of those things. Everything has a story, as I was telling our kids yesterday. It's just not that simple to say I'll get rid of this or that. Someday they will have to do it, and they won't be so attached since they don't really know all the stories behind them. But I do think about it. That's progress at least. LOL. I hope you have a blessed week. I hope Tommie T is doing okay??? Give our love to Beau and Bob. Blackie says hello!!

  22. I don't believe in coincidence. How wonderful that you found exactly what you wanted at those 2 stores and at such a great price. And I'm the same way about clutter. Jeff leaves clutter. It drives me crazy until I put his stuff somewhere, and then, of course, he can't find it. So now I just leave it in his home office, LOL! The situation with Beau really concerns me, as it does you. Lucy asked me to send her love and wags and POTP to her sweet friend.

  23. Of course they miss you too! Nice that you connected with the agent and enjoyed your talking with each other.

I can't stand clutter, and I get depressed if we have it. My husband tends to "pile" on the dining room table. He is capable of walking and placing his mail in the office, but it seems so much easier just to pile...So now, I just pick up the pile and then pile it on the other piles on his desk.
New neighbors are on the horizon. How exciting. Maybe some good talkers for you to talk to! πŸ—£️

  24. Glad you accomplished all the things you did in the house moving some things in new places. So sorry about the Crocs. Sorry about Beaus legs. I like that Bob is staying in your bed at night. Sorry to hear about the dementia progressing. Sorry about him wanting soda all the time. Water is the best. I'm sorry that some of the things you talk about set him off. Glad you both have new cups. Interesting about the house for sale across the street. Apparently they were fixing it up. Nice that you had an interesting visit with the women.

  25. You' ve been working hard and it sounds like you have accomplished a lot. I'm like you Sandra..I do not like clutter and it will drive me nuts until I get things put up. I'm glad you had this time to go to the open house...and happy that you enjoyed the conversation. Sometimes it does us good to be able to get out and visit with other people. Woo hoo for you on the blessings you found. This is awesome..

  26. This was a great catch up. I am getting behind answering but I have enjoyed reading all that you have been doing. I would say that if those mismatched mugs make you uncomfortable, good on you for getting another to match. Clutter can be overwhelming. It can be like trying to stop salmon from swimming upstream but you seem to have done great taking control of it. Your open house sounded fun, especially you meeting your kindred spirit. You most likely brightened her day too. Thanks for the update.

  27. I'm a bit like that too, as in wanting to keep certain areas neat (and it bothers me when things are "in the wrong place" etc) - but minding a bit less about what is "out of sight". Luckily I don't see much of my study/office from anywhere but inside that room - and here I usually sit staring at the computer screen! So that's usually the room where I can allow the most clutter without being too bothered about it... ;)

  28. Good going on clearing out space and donating things. We so need to get that done as well. - I'm glad you had a blast at the Open House.

  29. Great work on the clutter busting, the cups do look nicer matching, how nice to get what you need at the thrift store, I’m sorry to hear about Beau and of course, dementia is an awful beast, what a fun talking visit, you are in my prayers!

  30. This is from Kaitlin - having trouble with a profile (sorry!). What an amazing post… incredible about the crocs, and I love you were able to talk to the realtor. It must feel good to have matching cups and so much cleaned up!

  31. Your posts are so full and sooo busy. You take on so much work but it was good to read the support of natire provided you with what you need right when you needed it. I hope the new cup doesnt confuse Bob.
