A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His bill will hold more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I’m damned if I see how the helican.

stunning pics! :)
ReplyDeletePelicans look like they have so much character! I wish we had them here.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I hardly ever laugh out loud at a blog post. I smile and grin a lot. But that poem cracked me up. I have to remember it. :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots. And I love the limerick. Funny.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up... Great photos
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteDon't you wonder why, we are drawn to certain birds/animals????
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm, but would that be one of those things, we were sorry we found out? -giggggggles-
Great limerick and wonderful shots - they are especially cut from the back! We get pelicans at one of our lakes and I'll have to watch for there arrival. It would be a fun time taking photos of them!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteOh, these are wonderful...I like pelicans, too. Just don't see them often enough.
ReplyDeleteThe shot before the tweak is my favorite...wow!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait til we meet in person :)
I like the shots and the limerick was great. I would like to put enough food in my mouth for a week. But of course it would not last a week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
My Florida sister lives on a lake. I love sitting on her back porch and watching the many big birds cavort about on her dock. We don't have pelicans in the midwest. We do have Sandhill Cranes.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Great photos, they certainly are clumsy looking birds!!
ReplyDeletei just love those brown pelicans. drew one once for a friend that has a condo in florida. :)
ReplyDeleteOMCs we love the poem...too funny.
ReplyDeleteMy crazy mom loves all birds...but thank goodness we don't have any in the house like my human sissy. She has a parrot who squawks all the time. mol
Hugs Madi PS excellent pictures too
Great limerick!! Wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA! Took me a minute but that is really funny! Love your pictures. Did you take them recently or are they from your files. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of the pelicans.. AND-I loved the limerick...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
These guys are somewhat comical. You have great pictures of them.
ReplyDeleteI have been going up and down looking at these. My favorites are the first and the third. The couple are real cute, they look like they are just resting and talking to each other. I have never seen a real one and probably never will, because they don't have them in zoos.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the pelican, and they always look comical to me for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI remember that limerick from ages ago. Its great for the terrific photos.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the next to last one of the back view.
I love these guys too! I wish we had them here but they are my favorites any time we go over to the coast. Your tweaked photo looks very much like a fossil which is what I think of when I see pelicans.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, as are the hollyhocks. My mother used to grow hollyhocks along the house.
ReplyDeleteI was wowed by your photos and my funny bone was tickled by the limerick.
ReplyDeleteYou got a perfect shot there Sandra.
ReplyDeleteLooking at those shots has me marvel at the power that is in those birds! They fly with ease and scoop their catch .
ReplyDeleteThese are great pictures of the pelicans. I like the limerick as well.
ReplyDeleteThe first one looks like he could be a wooden sculpture, he's the same colour as the pole... Love the one sitting on the sign too!
ReplyDeleteGod has humor....I thought the one was wooden also....good shots.
ReplyDeletegotta love pelicans!
ReplyDeletethe photo's of the pelicans are stunning, to say the least.
these birds are such beautiful creatures.
