Plane Creations by Bob

Hubby likes to design build and fly his own radio control airplanes with anything he can find to recycle.

Above creation includes a wings of Styrofoam found in trash, the fuselage is the roll that the plastic shrink wrap comes on, the blue is from a sheet of foam insulation.

Above was made from a fishing rod, Styrofoam meat trays, pieces of balsa wood and the plastic shrink wrap that was on the roll.

they all fly.

and fly well.

I was about to say he has 40 plus planes, so why does he need more..... but I flashed on the fact I have 10,000 photos and keep taking more.

When I see him sitting on the sofa with a blank stare, I say "What are you building?"

When I  say, "What did you say? I wasn't listening"

He knows I am planning a post.

Does your spouse have a hobby?

  5. WOW Bob you are recycling and making most beautiful planes. Amazing what you can do with a little imagination!

My hubby is a train nut. He buys brass trains shells then makes them to look just like the real thing.
Lots of soldering, shaping and planning too.

  6. Really interesting, I will show Phil when he gets up from his nap. All the red with the compartments, what is it? It looks like the inside of a fishing tackle box.

  7. I am so impressed!
You have one clever Hubby to say the least.
Loved the comment about staring off into space when planning.
Can't say my Hubby has any specific hobbies but he loves to putter around the house and is so good at gerry-rigging things to make them work.

  9. Hubby has taken on the role of chief chef for our evening meals! And over time he's becoming more and more creative. He even goes and shops for specialty items!
I help after he's done by doing the clean up. It's the least I can do for the awesome dinners he makes for the three of us.

  12. I don't know - is golf a hobby or an obsession? More like an obsession with my hubby. At least our hubbies are keeping out of trouble right?

  17. HI! I enjoyed your last post about the notebook for ideas. I love your hubby's creativity here. This is very clever. And that they fly is so cool. My husband's hobby is cooking. Today, he baked banana/nut bread and the whole house smells wonderful.

  21. Yes--comic books and models--model airplanes etc. He builds them, paints them, looks at them, puts them in a box, pulls them out, sands them down, repaints them, looks at them, puts them in a box and starts all over. :)

  23. Is flipping channels a hobby? LOL! I think your Bob is a very creative guy. I'll have to show these to my hubby, he might like to take up this hobby. But again, he loves his tv! I'm not complaining, he's not retired yet and he works hard.

  24. Those are some great planes. I really like the close up view in the last photo. I'm going to have to show that one to hubby.

Hy hubs is always tinkering with something. He enjoys his metal lathe and computers. I got him a new laptop a couple of weeks ago, it came with Windows 8 which is way too controlling. He is in the process of defeating MS protocols and making it do what he wants it to do.

  25. I wish Wade had a hobby. I keep telling him he needs one.
Bob's could be a very expensive one so it's a good thing he's so creative with the recycled materials.

  26. such a cool hobby...I love that he recycles to make them...

  27. Does my husband have a hobby? You don't want to know! He makes knives every now and then, he fiddles with bows/archery. Made his on 'jig' so he can make his own bow strings or cables which is on compound bows....he can and does make about anything he wants. He loves guns/pistols and reloads for them...plus does things to them/their stocks, etc.

and he is also very good butler...so good at opening and closing the door for the cats!

And I know I am forgetting stuff...oh, one thing he is a very good papaw...ask Lorelei.

  28. Wow..he makes his own planes...that is talent.!

  29. I think creating things from recycled material is great and the planes are such fun. As you probably know by now my husband's hobby is growing vegetables. He retreats to the garage to make wine and he's a goods cook - although he would say the last isn't a hobby, but a necessity when I'm spending too much time on the computer! (Actually we take turns in cooking the evening meal)!
