I read Flower Power on What Karen Sees, and in lesson 1. she said...Literally, get down close and shoot sideways or up.... Above and below are my kings mantle that are blooming and I took these in my normal MadSnapper way.....they are INSIDE the Box..

I tweaked the lesson because I can't get down or back up, so I literally held my camera up, under, over and on top of the flowers, I call these Blind Shots, since I could not see what I was getting. I left them just as they came out of the camera. no edits no crops, just re sized for web

PS... this post is my sneaky way of putting yet more of my purple flowers on my post when I said last year I was done showing these flowers.

Gorgeous flower I have never heard of King's Mantle. I love the deep purple and yellow throat and OMCs i spy mad snapper too. Love the variety of shots and angles..

The underbelly and backside of flowers can be fascinating. I love doing that.
Are the Kings Mantle flowers in the morning glory family? Beautiful.
These are good for shooting blind! I have did that a time or two while driving...just hold my camera up and snap a shot or two.
ReplyDeleteWOW, I really gave some good advice! HaHa! In my opinion, your 'OUT OF THE BOX' photos are wonderful....so interesting AND EYE CATCHING and the best. And your personal favorite is my personal favorite as well. Now, you have just taught me something, and that is to have fun with 'blind' shots. It made me remember when I tagged along with my son/daughter-in-law when they had bridal/groom photos taken, (I refused to do it - too much pressure), and for several shots the photographer bent over, held her camera about a inch from the ground and tilted it up and shot while they kissed. These were some of my favorite shots. I'm going to have fun with this!!!! Besides, I'm not far off from not being able to roll around on the ground as well. Even now, the getting down is easy, but getting back up is not a pretty sight!!!

ReplyDeleteThey are really beautiful, Sandra. The first time I saw this plant was in the botanical gardens glasshouse. I'm always taking blind shots being a very short person. Is that your husband in the ooops shot saying 'what are you up to?' That's what mine says all the time!
ReplyDeleteShooting flowers from the ground is easier said and done when you're not sure that you can actually get up again if you managed to get down there :) I like it when I can find flowers growing on a hillside or in a high flowerbed or box, so that I don't have to stoop down too low!

ReplyDeleteI have always called this Clock vine, I didn't know about the King's Mantle name. Being that it is purple that suits it well. I love purple flowers by the way.
