Our dog, Big Boy, eats one boiled egg a day. I learned a trick to make them peel easier and it works about 90 percent of the time.
Drop the cold egg in a glass and fill with HOT water. In 1 minute the shell will pop off...or NOT. 😜
You may find egg-art egghausting. The thing is I find it hard to beat. Even though you may not be egg-static with my photos, I am hoping all of you can take a yolk!
Some of you may think I am egg-centric or maybe even an egg head. If so omelettin it slide this time!
The last egg picture is my favorite. Your hibiscus header is stunning!! So what percentage of the time does this work for you? I never heard of it.

Secondly - I peel eggs under water - but cold, not hot. It definitely helps but as you say, not 100%.

ReplyDeleteThe fresher an egg is the harder it is to peel. My method is to boil, then put in cold water, crack the shells and let them sit for a minute. It seems like it works but like your method, probably only 90 percent of the time.
if the eggs are hot, I put them in ice water for a minute or two if they are cold from the fridge I put them in hot water. works about most of the time. when I boil the eggs I boil for 5 minutes, remove pot from heat, put on lid and let them sit for an hour. the last photo was edited with dodge and burn in the new picmonkey

Oh WOW on that header … best yet! Since I love to play with my food (almost as much as I enjoy EATING) I'm going to try this egg trick. Macie and Grace are always happy to eat my mistakes. :)

ReplyDeleteI shall try this next time I cook an egg. It's not only Big Boy who likes a boiled egg, I love them and enjoy fairly regularly. Nice pics, you even make an egg in a glass of water look good :)
