Feast or Famine

The idiom, Feast or Famine, means to much of something vs. to little of something. For today it applies to our rainfall the past 2 days.

photo by Sarasota Sheriff Dept found on ABC7
our local news for Bradenton/Sarasota

The photo above is a 10 miles drive from our house. We had no flooding where we live.

This photo is from MSN and is 14 miles south of us. We live in Sarasota/Bradenton and we got 3 inches, Sarasota got 5 to 6...

We have had drought for 4 years now, Tuesday was a drought ender that our Weather Guy described as Historic Rain!

RAIN
torrential
abundant
downpour
deluge
All of these mean the same, rain was
Present In Great Quantity! And it came with Booms and Flashes!

We are thankful for the rain and sorry for those who had losses from it. We were blessed with just enough to fill our pool to the very top.

today we are joining Brian's Home Forever to say we are thankful for the rain.

  1. That’s too bad about the flooding, but I’m so glad you had some rain. If only it came down more gently….. I’ve been thinking of you a lot. ❤️

  2. It is good to have rain after a long drought but not so good if flooding causes damage.

  5. I'm glad that you had rain to break the drought where you live, but very sorry for those who have experienced flooding. Take good care of yourselves Bob, Sandra and Beau.

  6. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have a home flooded and I hope it never happens. In Florida, however, based on every climate model that I have seen, it is going to become ever more common. Drought or flood as you have experienced and rising sea levels added to the mix. Troubling times are ahead. Glad that you escaped flooding where you are, Sandra.

  9. Hello,
The flooding looks scary. I am glad the drought is over.
It is also you are safe and did not have this flooding at your place.
Take care, have a great day!

  10. So thankful you and yours are high and dry, well, at least high above the flooding. That looks pretty bad! We finally got a good downpour here this morning, but not enough to do any flooding that I can see. Our pond looks a lot happier, however! Praying all will be well in your area soon.

  11. Just finished watching a news report about the flooding in FL, so thanks, Sandra for the update on your area. It seems that there have been increasing disasters in so many parts of the US. Thankfully, we have escaped them as well, but you never know what could happen next with Mother Nature.

  12. Oh my word!
While waiting at 'Imaging' yesterday morning I caught some video coverage on the big televisions, but had no idea where that was. Later Tom: Did you hear about the flooding in Sarasota?
I'm reminded of the 'stupid motorist' warnings each year: "Turn around, don't drown." Until I'd seen some of these rescues first-hand, I didn't know one can't merely drive through the big puddles.

Thankful for the 'just enough' rainfall y'all got!

  16. In a climate like that you are going to need to start digging 'earth smiles' (look up Justdiggit online) to hold back some of the rainwater, reduce flooding, improve the amount that soaks downwards and greens the place up for longer periods after the rain. Glad to read it wasn't flooding at your place but 10 miles away is not such a very great distance. I hope it is not flowing in your direction.

  17. I have been thinking of you since seeing the news about all of the flooding. Glad you are safe but I am sorry for others that have been devastated.
That's a whole lot of water to come down in a short amount of time.
Hope Beau is doing okay during the boomers.
    (((hugs)))

  20. I am with the majority - you needed that rain for sure. However, it is sad for the people who got flooded. Water can do so much damage, but we can't live without it!

  21. One of the news sources stated that Miami received 20 inches!? Wow. I'm glad that didn't hit y'all. We are as dry as powdered toast here in SE Georgia. Send some our way please?? lol Be safe. 💙
