My New Slipper Mops, AKA, Dog Drool Socks
they work, I wear them when I am cooking, and it cleans up Beau's drool as I work.
The best thing of all, is I can now stand on one leg and put them on. Before Bob could not walk, I could not stand on one foot and put on a shoe. Now, I can.
I can remove the cap on the pool chemicals, and Pop that silly cardboard thingy.
I can open jars, all the things I used to hand to Bob to open, I now can open them.
Practice builds strength.
I give Bob a banana and a glass of milk when he comes in from the pool. It hurts me because they are my favorite of all fruit, and for the past year I have been unable to eat them, due to IBS.
Suddenly about 10 days ago, I wanted one and when I peeled his I peeled 2 and I just ATE ONE. no cramps, none, nada, no bloating or gas. I have been adding a few other things to my diet, and I am so much better than I was.
40 years ago, on our first trip for Bob to meet my parents in Savannah, Daddy said when we walked in the door, Cille, hide the bananas Sandra's Here. He told bob in 2 days I would eat all HIS bananas. Daddy loved his bananas.
I am thankful today, that my stomach is better, thankful I can eat a banana without pain, thankful for my slippers, I really love them.
UPDATE ON BOB
THE INFUSION MEDS WILL BE EITHER JULY 2ND AND 3RD, OR JULY 8 AND 9, DEPENDS ON NURSES AVAILABLE DURING HOLIDAY WEEK.
I AM THANKFUL THEY CALLED.

Does anyone remember the commercials YEARS ago with Chiquita Bananas?
Hard to believe that some good has come out of this, but there you have it! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And you are living proof of that. I am SO glad!! And maybe now you can expand your eating choices, hurrah!!!
ReplyDeletewe hope the socks can help... nelly is the canine niagara falls, so the socks are more soaks after a minute LOL

ReplyDeleteNeat footwear. I am so glad to read that your finding some of the silver lining among your clouds! YAM xx
Snazzy footwear! It's good that you seem to be becoming desensitised to bananas. I'm trying a similar approach with eggs.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what those slippers look like after mopping up Beau’s drool! They look very functional - and they obviously are. Glad to hear that you are doing all these things and I am happy that you were able to get back to a banana without ill effects. In our family Miriam is the banana lover. I will have one once in a while but it’s not my favourite fruit. If I had to choose a single favourite it would be mango. Most nights after dinner we have half an apple each.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy post! I love your "slippers"...very functional and stylish! And bananas! Wow! how neat that you can eat ONE again! I used to love to eat bananas too, but only if they aren't too ripe. Now I do not like them at all. I might eat one on some peanut butter toast, but that's it. It's funny how our taste buds change over the years, and also what affects our systems and what doesn't. I've been eliminating more and more foods lately and it's no fun! Take care my friend. Help is on the way!!
ReplyDeleteHello Sandra
ReplyDeleteIt is great you are building strength, doing more things that you couldn't do before. Hubby, Miney and I all love bananas, we share one a day. Take care, enjoy your day!
That's awesome that you have gained strength through all this. Not only physical strength but emotional strength as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you were able to eat the banana without it bothering your IBS. I do remember the Chiquita Banana commercials.
I have those slipper mops too! They work great for dusting baseboards!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to eat a banana without pain.
I do remember those ads!
Yay for Bananas!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose slipper mops are too cool!
Two big wins in this post....no, actually there are more than two. I love bananas myself and if I eat one, I always want another one. We can do more than we think we can, it's all about the mind and doing what we know we have to do. I do remember that commercial...lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you're able to enjoy one of your favorite foods without distress! That's funny about your daddy, "Hide the bananas!".
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those slipper mops but will check them out ... provided they've something on the bottom that helps prevent falls. If our kitchen tile gets wet, it sometimes feels like an ice skating rink. A hip fracture is the last thing we need!
OMDs I love the chiquita commerical what a fun memory you gave me. I love you multipurpose mop shoes. Sending lots of prayers for a great success for Bob

Bananas are my favourite fruit too, I normally eat at least one per day! I do keep mine in the fridge, though (unless they're really green when I buy them, then I leave them out for a while first). I recently also learned from somewhere that if you take the bananas apart before putting them in the fridge, they keep all the longer (i.e. ripen slower).
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you are able to add a few things to your diet...and for one of them to be one of your favorite foods is a bonus. Yes, we can gain strength....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post
ReplyDeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteThose socks are a great idea. My husband just uses his sock to clean up Walter's drool. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea with the "socks"!! So cool!
ReplyDeleteGiggling at the banana vid. I'm a banana freak too. Can I ask, what you're doing so you can eat them again now? I miss having them but suffer from terrible IBS with any kind of veg. Thanks. I don't want to be doubled over in agony. Doc said it could stop my heart! (I have mild Mitral Valve Prolapse.) Gotta be careful.
So happy about the Angels being sent to protect y'all. May the infusions start soon and may they work!
Love 💞
I love everything about this post Sandra.. I hear the strength returning both physically and emotionally. Thrilled to read about the bananas. Healthy for your body. Hope you can keep it up.
ReplyDeleteLove your slippers too..Bravo !!
Sue
Yes, you do have a lot to be thankful for! Hurray for that! Those slippers crack me up. :)
ReplyDeleteLove those slippers AND the color. That is wonderful that you can tolerate the bananas - they are so good for you and to taste. You can even add them to your smoothies.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Misty and Timber
I've had similar slippers, they help when mopping floors, too.
ReplyDeleteMay you continue to be able to eat a banana a day without pain.
Things are really looking up for you and I can hear in your post how happy you are. My dad loved bananas too and so do I. I bet you can’t wait for the infusions to be given.
ReplyDeleteHow great that you can eat a few of your favorite foods again, especially bananas!! And that you are gaining strength in your hands just by doing the things Bob used to do. I read the previous post, too, and that infusion needs to go generic! It's good the medicare covers most of it, but that's still a good chunk you'll have to pay. I sure hope it helps Bob.
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention your drool mop slippers...I really need a pair of those for the office chair mat when Lucy comes to work with me and I'm eating my breakfast at my desk!
ReplyDeleteYum, I like bananas too. Those are fun slippers and practical too. I hope they get those infusions underway soon. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGood things just keep on happening!!!!
ReplyDeleteMORE GOOD THINGS HAPPENING. Bob and bananas. I love how you are grateful for the big things and the little things.
ReplyDeletePractice builds strength. - HOW TRUE.
You don't use it you will lose it.
Love the commercial - I do remember it.
I love my bananas and like everything else simple things like this are taken for granted, until I read you couldn't eat them. So glad you are able to now. Loved the story of when you visited your mom and dad.
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful soul. Truly. On top of that, you're getting stronger and stronger each day. It's just wonderful to see. Those slippers, you're a hoot!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you can do things you couldn’t do before. yay for that!
ReplyDeleteI love bananas too, I eat one per day.
your slippers are so cool
have a wonderful weekend
ah, I’m really sorry, that anonymous comment its me.
ReplyDeleteOf course I am praying that the shots will help. That is really good news about the banana. Take care.
