Orange Thing, I think I love you

I fired the lawn man, the last two times he came, he did not do what I asked him to. We have very little grass in our back yard. It looks like this.
Two small patched of grass that I water for Beau to Eat when he is sick

weeds and sand

half the yard looks like this, it was full of tall weeds and nettles and I asked him to cut the weeds. He did not. I asked him to mulch the leaves. He did not. The first time I also asked him to NOT cut Beaus Grass. HE did...

I texted him and said we no longer need your services, I am going to
DO IT MYSELF
One week later Amazon brought to our door a huge box with these in it.

Two battery charger, 2 batteries and a 19 inch, no gas, no oil, super lightweight Orange LawnMaster Mower. I ask him to sit in in the living room and he did and then there was a bad time between the Mr and Mrs trying to tell each other how and what to do. Skip that part, its together and working

 and Now I am singing

Orange thing, you make my heart sing

You make mowing grass groovy, orange thing

Orange thing, I think I love you

But I wanna know for sure

Come on and let me hold you tight

I love you

Orange thing, you make my heart sing

You may remember my recent purchase of a rechargeable leaf blower and I named it Precious.  When Orange Thing came along, I decided to name them the blower Yellow Thing, and the mower Orange Thing because Bob can't remember the names I gave them and each time I have to describe what they are. You know, the yellow thing that blows leaves off the deck. I have shortened the names so that when I say I am going out to mow grass, with the Orange Thing I bought.

I mowed the grass, I did not cut Beaus Grass, I mulched the leaves, both the ones I raked up and the ones that were scattered on the little green grass we have, and I raked the leaves out of said grass and deposited them in the proper blue thing which was taken to the curb. Each time I cut I consider the money I would have paid him as coming off the price of the mower.

It will only take 6 times to  pay for it and then its free to me.

Did you notice its called LAWNMASTER??   Orange Thing is a LAWNMISTRESS Now.
define mistress, a woman of authority, in charge of the household. And, The House yard.

  1. It is The Orange Thing and you Are the Mad Thing. Phil wants to know if it's self-propelled. He used to teach lawn mower repair. Did that guy do ANYTHING right?

  2. How wonderful that you have not only gone green (or maybe orange would be better MOL) but fired the gardener and saved in due course loads of money. Once it is paid for in saved money, maybe you could mow others lawns and make extra cash for Beau treats :)
Have a wonderful, green, orange and yellow Mistress Powered week!

  3. Darned good job. Amazing to take that on with everything else you are managing but it might just be the kind of diversion and change of activity you need - and the reward of seeing it the way you want it.

  6. And on top of not paying him for a job not done right, the lawn mistress does it the way she wants and needs it done.

  8. You did well to fire the jerk who would not do what you paid him to do and I am sure your new machinery is a great choice. In addition to having things the way you want, it will give you periods of respite from the constant demands on your time indoors. And just think, at your age you get to be a mistress! 😏

  9. The price of the orange thing is worth it just to have things done the way you want them done. How frustrating that he never did things the way you told him to.
I like that, the lawn mistress.

  10. Good for you, Sandra, because if someone isn’t doing what you ask them to do or not do and you are paying for it, then he (or she) should go. That orange thing will pay for itself in time and you get to be outdoors.

  11. Hello Sandra,
Great deal on the Orange Lawnmistress. Sometimes you have to do things yourself to get them done right. Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.

I'm so glad you kicked that poor excuse for a lawn man to the curb, trying to take advantage of y'all.

  17. Good for you for not settling on someone that won't do what you want them to do. We're lucky that we have good lawn folks. They keeps things looking neat and cared for.

We have a battery powered mower too. Very quiet.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to handsome Beau. ♥

  19. We've purchased a few battery powered yard tools too and just love them. No more mixing a special formula of gas and no more trying to start it with 87 pulls of the rope.

  20. You Rock Mistress of the Yard !!!
Your weeds look a lot like ours. If only we had enough money to get a new weed whacker. Our broken one can't be fixed and the weeds are so happy and celebrating bigger every day.
Sigh ... there is always something.
Love your Orange Thing and know it will serve you well. Now you will get things done just how you want them.
    Hugs

And it will be good therapy for you too, without paying for a therapist! LOL. Smart girl!!! Proud of you, "Wild Thing". LOL.

  24. You are brave and bold. Say, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!

  25. Way to go! If your lawn guy can’t, you certainly can.

  26. Good for you!!! I know I am doing more and more and Louis Dean less and less....and sometimes it's just easier for me to do things myself than it is to explain to him what I want done.

  27. Wow, Good on you for taking charge! If the hired help doesn't 'help'
    then what good are they?
We would love a battery lawn mower, but our lawn is an acre, we would need 3 or 4 batteries...so we have a higher end gas mower...(It's orange, too!!), but I have three sizes of battery chain saws and a few other tools that use batteries. Hubby too...
Our weeds used to look like yours, but over the years I have gotten control over them...more or less. It is still an ongoing war, else they would take over again. Right now I spend an hour or three pulling out various weeds every day when the weather is good. Gotta get them before they flower and make more!
Have fun with your new friend the Orange Thing!!

  28. Leave it up to You to make me laugh! Now that darn song is stuck in my brain! Lololol
I think when we ask the lawn people to do certain things, it flies right over their heads! Sweet Beau deserves better...and momma is gonna fix things! lol
We love our furrbabies the same.
    Happy mowing sweet friend!
    hugs

  29. When those we hire to do things do not follow instructions then YEP, it's time to let them go. I like your song and how you name your equipment. I sure wish I could do or yard myself but it is too hard to take care of. I have a lot of grass and a lot of plants all around. Sure would save me some money though. Best of luck Sandra in taking care of your yard.

  30. I'm happy to hear that you let him go. How could he not follow your instructions. Way to go on buying the orange thing. Sounds like it is doing a great job. I'm very proud of you and all that you do.

  31. Hi Sandra :)
Well done you! Your new orange buys will make the job easier especially the light weight mower.and save you money by doing it yourself. The creep who didn't do what you told him to do but took your money is a disgrace to the gardening profession. I would not have paid him! By the way in your last comment you didn't know if the squirrel was male or female, well it was a little boy squirrel because if you look closely you can just see a little bit of his pencil.:))

  32. I like your lawnmistress! Too bad about the mower guy but it's great that you are saving all that money. Another post I love.

  33. Glad you fired him. I am sorry that he cut the grass that the pup needs. LOVE the lawnmower. We have had battery lawn mower for years and it is THE BEST. No gas. Woohoo. No wintering over. Woohoo. No spark plugs. Lots of woohoos. Enjoy your very cool new toy.
