2. get excited, he found a pine cone. Not 1 but 2. (we never see them off either tree because the cute longtailed rats that live in the tree eat every single one of them) this is the first 2 ever found WHOLE on the ground UPDATE because of Ginny's comment. the cute rats are bushy tailed Squirrels, we call them rats because they are rodents with bushy tails
5. seek Pine cone jokes or NOT.... do NOT google pine cone jokes, who knew that the only pine cone jokes are dirty ones, I mean Who Knew? not me. so here is a non pine cone joke. (I see you googling now)

I have never thought of taking a picture of the pinecones.I guess that comes from having too many around.I like that last quote,I'll bet many men could relate.

ReplyDeletePine cones and long tailed rats and jokes, golly!!! First, I didn't think tropical kinds of places places had trees with pine cones. Because they are evergreens; they grow in Florida? I'm really amazed! We have lots here, in fact the next door neighbors big pine tree, which has grown onto OUR property and is obscuring OUR window now, has lots. You have rats in your yard?? I would be scared to death!! Do they come out at night? In the day? Do the dogs chase them? Get terriors! They are ratters and will kill them all!! But wait! You said cute and rat both in the same sentence! Are their tails longer than regular rats? Could it be you actually like them? Last night, David Letterman had a lady who makes fancy clothes for rats and dresses them. She brought four rats and some clothes. Some of the rats were Russian. Some had real curly fur and whiskers. She bought them at The Rattery!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Ginny - cute maybe - rats YES! I have had more trouble with those things in my attic and then with my birdseed to where I can't figure out how to put the seed out - even got one of those squirrel proof feeder - ours squirrels maybe RATS - but they are smart ones.

We have to many pine cones here. I don't think the the squirrels even bother with them. I don't like the squirrels they do a lot of damage. They chewed a hole in my grills gas line. Guess they like rubber and gas fumes better.

The pines near the oral surgeon has huge pine cones and with our wind, the tree gave them up. Mom had me out there picking up armloads full. She has an idea we will spray paint them for Christmas decorations. They are about 6 to 8 inches tall. The ones from the trees behind us are much smaller... still numerous. Oh, and our squirrels have never shown interest in them.

ReplyDeleteWe have lots of cones and no squirrels in our area. They have been taken care of by their natural enemies. We do have lots of racoons though.
