I stood staring out the window on the world and talking to Bob about how God's Grass is GREEN and so thick, it is the thickest it has ever been in 35 years here.
We call it God's grass, because the only care we give it is cutting it when it needs it. We don't water it, if grows however God lets it and also has never been sodded, just grass that grows in Florida.
I wanted to find a picture of how the grass was before

Yesterday I took this photo to show you how different water makes it. We had 4 days in one week of 4 inches in an hour each day and 3 days of 2 inches in an hour.
The best thing about rain here is it comes all at one time, the sun comes out and its done and gone in an hour. Of course the blooms/flashes are not much fun.
We can SEE it growing, because we are in a tropical humid globe with the hottest summer on record. The rain and humidity make steam, like a glass house would

So the last one is from Google Earth also, and they somehow managed to get in it? I knew you had neighbors pretty close by, but now I can see how close they are! Your house looks a good bit larger than ours.
we totally agree... and with the constand rain here the grass is no longer greener behind the fence... it is mighty everywhere ... more gross than grass :o)))
I don't think I ever saw that view of your whole front yard (and with the whole house) before. Our lawns here never quite reached that "all yellow" stage this summer, but they do sometimes, if we have a long enogh hot and dry period.
That is a big difference. Also, do you ever notice how when plants are needing watered, the leaves etc are all drooping and you five them water, you can just watch the leaves, vines breath a sigh of relief and come back to life?
Wow, that is a huge difference in the grass. It looks so lush and green now. I was looking up the store I work at on google earth one time and one of the guys at work was walking up the street in the picture.
We could use that kind of rain here...I'm SO ready for Fall!

I like your home. Looks so neat. The house y'all live in reminds me so much of the house I grew up in in Titusville, Florida. It was concrete block, built in the mid-50s, but back in the 50's it was all flat roofs (what were they thinking!?). It leaked like a sieve. Now it has a peaked roof and has been extensively remodeled.
Our grass is bright green this year too. The 30+ year drought in the Southeast seems to have finally been broken. I'm lovin' all this rain. 💙
MS well done on the post. WE had such lush green grass in July from all the rain then August was so dry. It will be a while before ours is July green again

Wow...what a big difference. It is amazing what water will do. We drained our pool a couple of weeks ago and rather than to just waste the water, we watered our yard. (chlorine and all). The yard quickly turned a beautiful green. thank you so much for the info on being able to post on blogs that requires "Sign in with Google". I appreciate any help as I am not very tech savvy. Green is good! We've had just enough rain to keep our lawn green.

I like your house, very pretty, and especially as it is one level. We used to live in one level and when we got here it was such a novelty to have stairs, and hard to find one level homes for sale when we moved. Wish I had a one level now! How funny your neighbor and her dog got onto Google.

It is amazing what water will do. - I don't think I've watered our lawn this summer more then once or twice. It's mostly green but the rains coming will green it right back up.
I LOVE God's green grass! It's the best kind to have! That is what we have too, although still not as nice as yours, except over our drain field of the septic system...that always grows nice and green. Not sure I'd call that "God's Grass". LOL. Our back yard has more sand than grass, but even that is starting to fill in from all the rain. Out front we have two big live oak trees, and the yard nearest them is mostly acorns and layers of fallen leaves from eons ago, and no grass growing. It's very hard to grow grass under those trees, so we don't even try. Anyway, Still Waters Pond is nice and full again after the rain of the past week. That's what makes me happy! I remember that about Florida - it can rain every day for an hour and be done. So you have a record heat this summer. Yikes. I do see the difference between watered and unwatered grass. I can't wait until FALL!
It is always quite welcome when our grass get moistened by God's Water - what a difference water makes when it is so hot and dry. Mom planted a small patch of seed where we had a tree removed in the Spring. The sod didn't survive the summer, and she decided it was cheaper for her to just seed it herself than pay the guy to re-sod. Hope it grows.

I'm impressed that your Google Earth shows a recent photo of your home. Mine hasn't been updated since 2009.
I like green grass, but it is not practical here in California anymore. We have put in patios and walkways where grass used to be, so our grass footprint is very small now. We do like to keep those small patches green.
