You are somebody's reason to smile!

Google AI made the two graphics for me and I copied one of them.. Can you guess which one is MINE?  HO HO HO

I rounded the corner into the Ice Cream Aisle in Publix, and at the very end, stood a tiny woman, bent with age, unable to look up at the top of the freezers.
She was just standing there, and I knew what she wanted, she just stood staring at me with squinted eyes, and I could see she did not want to ask for help.
Stepping close to her, I lit her up with my best 100-watt smile and she smiled back at me with a 200-watt smile and said
"I need help, will you help me?"
I laughed and said, "Yes, I will help you, which one do you want me to get down for you? "

She laughed and said "I want the Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, I can't see it, but it's always on the top shelf on the right. I handed it to her, and she cuddled it against her sweater like it was a baby, thanked me and we both toddled off in different directions.
She was my smile, I was her smile.

You are somebody's reason to smile! You can BE someone's Smile!

``A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.'' -- Phyllis Diller

``Use your smile to change the world; don't let the world change your smile.'' -- Chinese proverb

``Smile, it is the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart.'' -- Anthony J.

AI Overview

"Be the reason someone smiles today" is a call to action to spread kindness and positivity through small, thoughtful gestures. It means actively making an effort to brighten someone's day, whether through a simple compliment, a helping hand, or a warm smile, which can have a significant and positive impact on their well-being and create a ripple effect of joy.

I agree with you about smiles, and I'm so glad you are posting pictures from the past.

Even with the awful circumstances you are in, you still help others and make them smile!!!!! I think one reason for us to have problems is so we can sympathize with others who do.

Smiles!! When you have a genuine smile you don't even need words!
Love your idea of having a look back at all your *Santas*!

Reading through the posts I missed, I had to grin at your issues with the table and its cloth and place mats...

Today I met a lady I know from where I work, and we had a nice little chat about the stressful things she is going through right now. She almost didn't recognize me without my uniform, LOL!

Great post Sandra, it is true about smiles.
I think they are contagious! Easy to spread!
Love the photo of you and Bob with the Santa hats.
Bob looks like Santa in the pool.
Take care, enjoy your day!

Smiles go a long way, I love that you helped her. I'm short and often people will help me reach the top shelf. It's nice when that happens.

Love the Santa hats on you guys!

Dicey is a great name for the monster on my last post. That's a good name you picked! His real name is Oogie Boogie from the movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Wishing you a fun rest of your day. Off to catch up on the rest of your blogs. Cold here this morning. Gotta cuppa whilst I read.

And you sure made me smile this morning. Not only with this act of kindness that you gave to this little lady, but the sweet RED photos of years past. A simple smile does the heart good for both the giver and the recipient. Thanks Sandra for this reminder.

Hey Sandra! Thanks for the comment - no email on my phone, no Internet on my phone either. Right now I'm on the laptop reading comments directly from my homepage.

This narrative ... what a sweet accompaniment to your artwork. Publix needs to post this on their webpage -- particularly in this season where "goodwill towards men" is sometimes hard to find.

You made me smile. Hubby is always helping short people get what they want off the top shelves. He's over 6 foot.

You made me smile and I love your pictures in your younger years. What a hottie you were/are.

I linked this post to Happy Tuesday. Spread the smiles. ♥

Love the Smiles and the Santas...perfect.
I try to do that same thing when I am in the store too.
When Dave and I were in In & Out a few days ago 2 other people and us all got to the doors at the same time. We had a good laugh as we each opened a side of the door to go through and leave. It kind of looked like a Laurel and Hardy comedy. Then when we were about to leave our table Dave saw a Dad and his kids trying to find a table . He motioned to the man to come to ours. He was so grateful. The security man that was sitting next to us I guess saw what Dave did and reached over and picked up our tray trash and cleared the table for us and the next guests. It really had that Holiday cheer feeling.

Really timely post - good reminder to us all for everyday not just the Xmas season. (and you clearly aren't a little old lady yet if you can reach the pumpkin pie ice cream)

This post and the little old lady art made me smile. Yes, let's all be someone's smile each and every day. That will come right back to us so we have a smile too.

What a happy post! I am short, but I can still climb the shelves and mostly get what I need. Even so, it’s nice when a nearby taller person helps.

A timely post as it was just yesterday that I was that little old lady at the store. My favorite box of cereal was pushed all the way back on the shelve, and it would have been dangerous for me to climb so I asked a young gal for help and she reached right up and got it for me. That's a first!

Lovely post and sentiment, Sandra. Love those retro photos of Christmas past!

I'm not bent with age, but I am short and sometimes have to ask for help getting something down from the top shelves in the grocery store too. I usually look around for a tall person and ask for help in the sweetest voice possible.

Lovely old photos and thanks for sharing that sweet story about the lady you helped. You were her earth angel. Smiles can warm the soul of the receiver and the giver :) I liked your creativity too.

Smiles are universal and there will never be a surplus. Kudos to you for adding cheer to someone’s life. I am away in Colombia right now, so if I don’t get to your blog as quickly as I might, you will understand. Hugs - David

I enjoyed your past photos with Bob. How sweet are you to get the pumpkin ice cream for a stranger.

I love your story about the lady in the grocery store, and how you just knew a big, warm smile would open her up. And that you didn't just ignore what you saw and walk on by. With that simple act of kindness you made two people feel happy. Bless you, Sandra.
