FOG ART by God, and The MadSnapper

We planted our powder puff bush, as a small 4 ft tall bush, in the early 90's. From November to April it blooms with hundreds of these red flowers. These photos above are from past posts, Full blown in the 1st pic and dying and ready to fall to the  ground and then we take it down to 4 foot tall from 12 foot, and nothing but sticks and in 2 months is is a huge bush again.

We thought the drought would cause no blooms but I was unable to cut it down, and it has grown uncut for 2 years, and black mold took over the leaves, due to Bob not being able to care for it. I went out 2 weeks ago to hack it down myself, and while counting the 40 blooms on it, realized that there were bees in every bloom and two butterflies sucked fast on the pollen. I left it until the bees left. Beau and I went for a walk in fog so heavy and thick we could only see a few yards in front of us, and I needed by baseball cap to protect my glasses from the drops from the fog. While outside with him, I stood aiming my cell phone at the above photo, marveling at the tiny drops of fog that made the flowers sparkle and look sprinkled with glitter.
Below is the same photo, but blended in procreate, just because I could.

If you enlarge, the photos you can see the beauty of details painted with fog.

My walk with Beau that morning was blind and could hear nothing. The fog had blankets the entire city, with no sight, no sound. It was breathtaking and reminded me of this poem.  It explores the beauty of nature, the transient quality of life, and the way ordinary phenomena can be profound if observed closely.

The Poem by Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Thank you! I love fog -- it's special because we don't get it often and I don't have to drive in it. That's too bad about the drought -- your backyard was always so lush. ❤️

It looks like many tiny diamond bracelets!! And I love the purple color it turns when dying. Reminds me how the leaves turn pretty colors in the fall. I have always loved this poem. My post tonight was going to be about fog, believe it or not. But I know you do believe it. But I'm just too tired. Going to bed and I will post it some time tomorrow.

we love this color of the bush... it is fantabulous in all states. yes, the fog is like a silencer... so we suddenly saw a boar and a fox in front of us.... and we all survived...

This is lovely, Sandra! Certainly for travellers, fog can be a hazard, but I do love the shrouded feeling, the quietening, calming effect it can have upon the world... YAM xx

It was foggy here too but I didn't see anything as fascinating as you did. Those flowers look like they are covered in little tiny beads.

Oh wow! This was wonderful!!! I LOVE the pictures you got of the fog laden powder puff flower! And yes, enlarging the photo really makes those little beads stand out like crystal beads! So beautiful! I am SO happy you are enjoying the brighter side of life again. God is so good!!!

Hello,
The powder puff flowers are beautiful. The dew drops sparkling are pretty. You reminded me we are supposed to cut back our butterfly bush before spring. I love the photos and the poem.
We have had a couple of foggy mornings. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great weekend.

The fog sure paints a different picture of the landscape around here. I've not seen this plant before but it sure makes some gorgeous blooms...a huge thank you from the bees I am sure...

Wow! God is an incredible artist! The bloom alone is beautiful and then adding the fog brings it to another level.
Thank you for sharing!

Fog is mysterious and covers everything with a damp shroud. I love walking in the fog.

Droplets are one of my all time faves to shoot. There's something magical about them. Love what you did here. Really really nice.

I loved the little beads that looked like diamond bracelets. I think they are still pretty, but it is sad to know you are losing them. I don't mind fog - but I like sun better.

Those are such pretty flowers and the fog is cool. Up here we sometimes get frozen fog. Big hugs from all of us.

That is interesting how it grows. Sorry about that black mold. So you cut it down. Way to go but surprised by the bees and butterflies. Wow, that was a very thick fog for sure. Yes, the flower really does sparkle. Love the details in that photo too! Interesting poem. Enjoy your weekend.

Beautiful! The older I become, the more I'm enjoying foggy days. Maybe that's on account I don't have to drive in it?

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 41 years there was always fog since we lived just 2 miles from the ocean. Sometimes it was truly beautiful and full of Silence but a lot of the time it was damp and dangerous to drive in.
Love the poem too and your powder puff bush is always so pretty. I'm sorry its so hard for you to take care of.
The sparkles and your treatment of them is beautiful. Enlarging them makes them doubly gorgeous.

I love it all - the colours, how they change colour and form, and the fog jewels (especially the fog jewels). Inspiration for baroque jewelery.

Oh, MY! Such lovely blooms and all SPARKLY in the foggy droplets!
When I lived in Halifax, way back in 1976/7, I was living on the eighth floor overlooking the harbour and part of the shoreline of the ocean. You could watch the fog rolling in, like a dark eerie mound, from a long ways off...suddenly it would envelope our building, and then after awhile it would dissipate so you could see everything once again.
I loved the coffee cup sparkles. There is such profundity in the most mundane things and when one takes time to observe they do stand out for us to wonder over and admire!

I have always loved foggy mornings (as long as I didn't have to drive in them). Your photos are wonderful. One of the things I miss since we don't live on the water anymore is the sound of the foghorns...mournful and beautiful. xo Diana

Lovely photos. I wish Powder Puff grew here. It gets too cold. We had many growing of them, and citrus trees, in the yard in Titusville.
Love. 🍀💓

The purplish looking procreate one looks like there's a wolf in that flower with it's head hanging out the right side and its mouth open.
I would love the fog too if I didn't have to drive to work in it. Glad you're seeing the beauty in nature...or seeing as far as you can in the fog, LOL!

Gorgeous photos! Loved looking at the details in each image. I love a good foggy morning but not good to drive in. I once walked along a country lane with no traffic and it was so foggy but really beautiful, and nothing but silence.
