I am always looking for ways to hide the fact I am eating Oatmeal! I toast oats, sunflower nuts, Rasins in Ninja Oven, I like a handful as a snack or eat it with a little soy milk for breakfast, mixed with rice cereal or cheerios.
I found a recipe on Mari's blog, My Little corner of the world, for homemade granola bars. You can get her recipe on the link. I have a short list of what I can eat due to IBS.
I made only one bar. I had just enough oats toasted for one bar.
I simply added maple syrup, natural crunchy peanut butter to the oats, Rasins, stirred, pressed it down into a bar, and left it in the fridge. Mari used honey; honey doesn't like me.
I just break off a small piece with a fork and that is my snack and hidden heathy food that is yum
Olives are a good source fiber, taste, and have 7 good reasons to eat them. One of those benefits is aid the digestive system. I put them in my rice pasta salads with yellow peppers..

I changed sugar to sugar cubes, because My hubby's hands shake, and he has memory issues and when he spills sugar on the counter, he doesn't remember to wipe it up. in Florida we have any problems.
I store the 1 lb of cubes in 2 containers that are easy for him to hold and keep the small container, because he can pull out 2 cubes with fingers and drop in his coffee.
No sugar on the counters. I eat zero sugar and don't bake, and this is working well.

Your sugar idea for Bob is genius!! When I was newly married, I made a lot of granola, and did macrame and tie-dye.

Yeah, the one thing I don't miss from OZ is the ant infestation! (Or cockroaches...) YAM xx
We don't use sugar either...its not good for so many reasons.
Ants are troublesome around here too, esp when the weather warms up.
I love how you improvised the sugar problems for Bob, you are a genius!
that was a sweet idea.. and it worked so well... bravo!!!
It’s always good to innovate. I remember when sugar cubes were an indicator that you were in a fancy restaurant, with little tongs to pick them up. I can’t even remember the last time I saw sugar cubes and I don’t think I have ever seen them in a home. I drink my coffee and tea black anyway.
Your homemade granola sounds yummy and easy to make.
I have not seen sugar cubes in a long time.
Take care, have a wonderful day!
Your and Mari's granola sounds good. I still have to do that. I LOVE olives. And good idea about the sugar cubes. We get ants too.
I really like granola and as you showed, you can do so much with it to make it your own.
I didn't know olives were so full of goodness I love olives!
I love olives!!!! and oatmeal
Hugs to you and the 2 B's

I love olives -- both green and black -- but generally stay away on account of the sodium. Now that I know they're "good for me", I'm going to indulge more often.
Tom does the same thing while putting sugar in his coffee ... and I'm not far behind. Cubes is a great alternative!
Her granola bars looked soooo good. Glad you were able to eat them and well done on the sugar cubes. Way to go. Very smart idea, that.
I have oatmeal for breakfast several times a week. it's quite good!
Wonderful idea on the sugar. Well done.
Love granola. Hubby used to make it all the time. I think I'll ask him to make it again. Delicious and good for you.
Have a fabulous day and week, Sandra. A hug to you and scritches to handsome Beau. ♥
Sandra, you are so innovative. I love how you think outside the box and make things work for you. Great idea on the sugar cubes. I remember when I was young that my mom always had sugar cubes and little tongs out when we had company for dinner. It made even a simple meal seem like a special occasion. Mom was good at that.
Thanks for the memory.

I think all my life sugar cubes were the standard here for use in coffee/tea. I don't drink coffee though and stopped using sugar in tea decades ago. (Possibly a drop of honey occasionally.) I still have some sugar cubes hidden away somewhere in my cupboards for guests, if needed.
Answering you back: The grumpies was Saturday. Left that same day. Thankfully!
I saw Mari 's recipe and it sure looked good. Great idea for storing the sugar cubes and using them instead of the bags of sugar. I too have IBS and I have to be so careful about what I eat. It's not a fun thing to have for sure.
Great tips tday, Sandra...I love olives!!
There's always a solution to just about everything if we can just figure it out! You did good!!
Great idea about the sugar cubes, and I love olives and oatmeal. When I open my olives I pour out the brine and store them in water to get rid of a lot of the sodium. I love them and oatmeal. I eat my oatmeal mixed with raisins.
your homemade Granola looks delicious. I have cut back sugar long ago. I drink my coffee without sugar. great tips on the sugar tubes though.
xoxo
