the front porch of the cracker house in Manatee Historical Village has a rocker and a swing on each end of the porch. I stepped out of the door in the middle and snapped this view.
Sat in the other swing and OOPS! snapping doesn't work to well while swinging, so I stood up to get the next one. Then I put the camera down on the swing and enjoyed the sun and the view, Snapper was just a swingin on that front porch, just like I did on my grandmothers front porch. I spent many happy hours with a pillow under my head and one foot pushing me in a gentle swing while I read my book.
This house is just like hers, except she had her porch screened. Her house burned a few years ago but it was 2 miles from this house.
Do you like to swing? do you have a porch swing? or a yard swing?
In this last photo you can see part of the two barns, they will magically appear on a blog near you.

I love this...I love swings and rockers!!!! My swing broke and I haven't replaced it yet...
Love the porch...looks a little like mine with the white swing and rockers. I live in Warner Robins...a bit south of Macon. My daughter lives in Macon and there are different shopping and eating opportunities there. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Yes I llove to swing as does Buddy. We had a porch swing but it stayed at the home that had the fire!
Nice memories.
I do love to swing; not sure I could read and swing these days, though! These are pretty photos. Brings back good memories for me, too.
My mind drifed back in time while I was reading about swinging. One toe on the ground moving the swing as I leaned back and enjoyed the sound of the park that was not far away from where we lived. How I wish I had a swing right now, its 60 degrees and its would be awesome to swing and have my coffee. I guess I will settle on the rocker we do have and be thankful to GOD for his blessings.
HOPE you have a blessed weekend.
Every time i see a swing i think of mt grandparents. Both sets had one on their front porch. One looked out onto a city street, the other a country field
I love to swing.
Have a porch swing, a tire swing and a lawn glider...does that count?
I very liked these shots. I could stay there all day.
I love swings.. We have one now on our deck and I enjoy seeing out there watching the birds...
I grew up with a big terrace out back of our house. There was a wonderful old swing out there --and I loved it then also. Somewhere I have a photo of me on that old swing when I was a teenager.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
I LOVE SWINGS...AND LOVE SWINGING BUT I CANNOT SIT IN A SWING WITH SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE TO SWING AT MY OWN SPEED HUBBY GETS A TAD WILD AND ROCKY AND STOPS AND STARTS MAKES ME A LITTLE DIZZY OR MAYBE DITTIE.
HUGS C
WE HAVE A GLIDER STYLE SWING ON OUR BACK PORCH WE CAN SIT THERE TOGETHER BECAUSE IT ONLY GOES ONE SPEED. LOL
That looks very relaxing, we don't have those types of hings here. Great pictures :)
MOM loves porch swings. I am not to much of a fan. It's just I have no control on them.
Blessings,
Goose
my sis loves to swing and to rock. she almost insisted i get one or the other when she visited this summer. i told her i'm a 'sit still' sort of person. :)
I love to swing. I bought a really nice wood one that sits on a platform at a garage sale this summer. I enjoy it so much. We have it on the patio. Something about it is so comforting and relaxing. We have a hammock, too. Just leave one leg over the side and swing for hours!
How are you feeling today, Sandra?
These photos look so inviting. I can not imagine it might be hot. Great post.
I like the rafters of that porch roof, you don't see any like that anymore. I have always wanted a swing and a rocking hair, and I have never had either one. I bought nursery furniture for Anne's mom before she came from China, and I secretly wanted the rocker for myself very badly! No swing because no porch. Do you have either??
I used to love to swing. We had a swing in the house I lived in until in burned down when I was 9, my grandmother had a swing, and we had a swing at our previous house in the country. Now, I have to be careful of motion because it doesn't take much to make me dizzy. And that's probably more info that you wanted to know! Haha! Love your porch photo. I love porches.
Beautiful! I don't have a front porch or swing and that is a good thing. I would never get any work done,if I did have these.I barely get anything done now.
My dream has always been to have a big wrap around porch with a rocker and swing.
Didn't get that but we did have a hammock in the backyard until it got too brittle and someone fell through. Now sadly there is no rock and rolling going on.
Hint, hint...it would make a good anniversary present...(:0)
Love porches and swings of every kind. And I love the mental pix of a little Sandra gently swinging while immersed in her book.
Of course, in my town, if you didn't have a screened porch, you would be swatting hungry gnats and mosquitoes!
Such a relating porch!
How sad that it burned down. No I do not have a swing but would love to be out on that porch!
We have a swing on our deck, which gets quite a bit of use.
I have always wanted a nice big covered front porch. I don't have either kind of swing right now and I miss the yard swing that I used to have.
Nice to look at, but I prefer my chairs to stand still :)
I love swings and rocking chairs!
That swing, a cold iced tea and a paper fan and I would be in seventh heaven :)
Oh, yes I like to swing...just cannot hardly stand to do without it in winter. We knew a guy once, that was single, that had a log cabin and he had a swing inside his house! If I built a new house, I would make room for one and make sure it had the support it needed to have one inside.
And I was just getting ready to go get in my swing and read a little bit.
