Friday Fence Plus

I stepped into the plant hospital, also known as Bob's Junk Hole, and spied the Passion plant growing with a passion on the pole saw....

the saw leans on the ladder, the ladder leans on the fence, the raw wood is leaning on the ladder that leans on the fence and is to repair holes in said fence.

One thing led to another and I ended up with a ton of fence photos... enough for today and tomorrow's Friday fence.

I decided to share my daily dose of OMG Criminals that our local news patch does. Yes, these are local and TRUE stories that happened last week.

A man robbed the bank on March 5th, arrested on the same day, out on bond on March 19th, robbed the same bank, same teller and she recognized him.. arrested and in jail without bond.

A man goes to the ATM, his card says negative balance, he walks across the lot to the bank, enters and hands the teller a note to hand over 1000.00. Police found the whole episode on the 3 video cameras, plus his name and address from the ATM card transaction....

A man staying in a hotel was drinking in the downstairs lounge. He spoke with three young women in shorts and invited them to his room. When they knocked on the door, he opened it and the 3 attacked him, shoving him down on the bed, removing his pants and running out the door with pants and wallet and phone.

we were driving to the YMCA, radio blasting the song  "Rock me Mama", the singer said Cumberland Gap is a beautiful place, and I said Cumberland Gap IS a beautiful place.... 

Bob’s reply, "I know, I will fill it up sometime today."

"WHAT?"

 my gas tank said 1/4 tank, he said he was looking at it thinking he would fill it up for me.
and Gap does sound like Gas... right?

I know I am  old when I am  taking clothes out of the basket to put in the washer, and I jump 3 feet high and backwards because there is a big roach in the basket... .... it was a BROWN LEAF...

I know I am  old when I  can't tell if the black spots around my head are gnats or floaters in the eye...

With A Passion

One Lone Passion flower on top of the fence, the last hoo rah until next summer. I was shocked to see this flower, the vine is dying and the leaves have been decimated by the caterpillars, but there it sat, waiting for me.

It has said the color purple shows good judgment and if you surround yourself with it, you will feel Peace.

24 hours later, the flower closes.....

 Goodbye purple passion, see you next year when you come back to become the incubator for our Gulf Fritterary butterfly population.

Passion Plant -Macro

While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other."

He addressed the man, "Can you describe your wife's favorite flower?"

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's self-rising, isn't it?"

The rest of the story gets rather ugly, so I'll stop right here.

I took these photos and a few days later, every single bud and flower disappeared. only the leaves and stems are left and we have no idea what happened. That was on Wed of last week, and on Thursday every single one of the buds on the Double Purple Trumpet are gone.  Shades of Twilight Zone....

Passion Plant of many faces

 Let me warn you about this plant, it grows well in the ground but will take over the whole yard in one season. I suggest if you want one to plant it in a pot by a trellis or fence.

For several days in a row, I entertained myself with the sprig of the passion plant that hangs over the fence

Passion Vine Incubator

Above is a Gulf Fritillary Butterfly from last year. When I snapped the photo, I had no idea it was a female laying her eggs on the passion vine incubator.

3 weeks ago, I saw Bobby Appleseed with the machete headed into our jungle, he chopped a palm frond, cleaned it to a stick and went over to the fence behind the bucket garden, and pounded it into the ground.

He said I found a passion vine and am training it up the fence for the Gulf Fritterarys

Above shows the vine is almost to the top of the fence.

this is one of the little curly cues that cling to the dead frond stick...so cute

this is what the passion flower looks like. Last year we found by accident the Passion Plant is the incubator for for the Gulf Fritillary Butterfly.

Now we Wait... today we saw THREE of them and one went to the vine and laid her eggs on it. Just like last year.
