With A Passion

One Lone Passion flower on top of the fence, the last hoo rah until next summer. I was shocked to see this flower, the vine is dying and the leaves have been decimated by the caterpillars, but there it sat, waiting for me.

It has said the color purple shows good judgment and if you surround yourself with it, you will feel Peace.

24 hours later, the flower closes.....

Goodbye purple passion, see you next year when you come back to become the incubator for our Gulf Fritterary butterfly population.

Oh, my very favorite color. Never heard that about surrounding oneself with and it brings peace...I would love to be surrounded in purple no matter what. I have never seen a passion flower in person. Yours is gorgeous. Hugs

So does it open again or is that it? I love its permed hairdo. Great shots. Plants often flower if they think??? they are going to die so as to disperse seeds to grow more.

I think that is one of the most beautiful and interesting flowers I've ever seen. My mother always said "purple is for old people"!! I love the color.

It waited patiently for you to immortalize it here. How sweet is that? And, you know, I don't think I've ever seen a passion flower. Beautiful.

Great photos! I'm still in Oregon. Went to Mt. Hood yesterday and the Oregon Coast on Tuesday and Multnomah Falls on Wednesday and seeing the Oregon Gardens today. My Nikon Camera broke (stopped working) mid-week and have to send it back to Nikon when I get home. Crap!! Murphy's Law. :)

I'm passionate about flowers and about purple.
I've started journaling in purple pen. Love the way it looks on the page.
Beautiful and I didn't realize that it was an incubator for the butterfly.
Fascinating.

Beautiful. One summer a neighbors passion flower climbed all over our fence. We had swarms of Gulf fritillaries. Today when I was walking on the Biloxi Bay Bridge there was a steady stream of the brightly colored fritillaries. Your post reminded me of that long ago summer of fritillaries and passion flowers.

Passion vines are one of my favorite flowering plants and that is absolutely the most gorgeous picture I have ever seen of a passion flower. Now I feel the need to go out and buy something purple! :)
