Lanterns on table, AGAIN

Since there is nothing much to be said about more photos of the red lantern, I will tell the 5 people who never heard of cheese toast, what it is and why I grew up on it.

Cheese Toast by my mother: White bread was 4 long loafs for $1, in Kentucky, in 1953, my Dad was pastor of a very small Baptist Church, in Dewitt, KY. His pay was 30 per month, but once a month they had a "pounding for the pastor" and each person brought a pound or more of something. The US government gave out long loafs of CHEESE. We always got one per month, and sometimes more.

Recipe. Take out your cookie sheet, line it with slices of white bread until full, slice a slice of the loaf and lay on the bread and bake it in the oven until the edges are Krispy. The bottom will be soft, the top gooey and Krispy..

You can choose any bread, any cheese, slice it, dice it, shred it and place on your fav bread and put in toaster oven. I am impatient with baking so STAND and WATCH it while it is on BROIL....  trust me, IT WILL turn black or even burst into flames OR set off the smoke alarm IF NOT WATCHED......😁😁😁

Breakout Moment part 3 /Breakfast in RED

I gave you Sunday off from WORDS, but not completely. The wipeable polyester cloth if perfect to use my camera while eating breakfast. Plus, it has given me and idea for the whole month of December.
Sunday was my day off; cheese toast is EASY. We all three love it. Some of you might recognize the red lantern from Hurricane Murphy Milton!
I hope you all like RED.... Just Sayin

I love RED pillows and blankets and cheese toast and sleeping
below is the true color of the tablecloth, its burgundy, the red lantern made it RED

Elbow Selfie On Sunday Selfie

I mentioned in a prior post, with a lantern and Christmas poinsettias, that I tried to do a selfie of my elbow and could not. I felt challenged by this comment.

David M. Gascoigne, said...
It’s your blog, your pictures, your choice. You just show whatever you want. Even a lamp swinging from your elbow if you can manage it!

Yes, I realize there is not visible elbow, and I do hope all of you KNOW I would never, ever, never show my WINGS that hang under said elbow. Its a moot point because the flannel gown is what I have on when I go out after dark , with the lamp hanging on my elbow to follow Beau from pee spot to pee spot.

Pun intended.....My arms are lovely, but that elbow--it's definitely... ...a site for psoriasis

Life is like an elbow—you’ve got to bend with it or you’ll snap!

Lantern Love!

I bought two of the lanterns to use during Hurricane Milton after Helene came and I needed more light. I like it because it hangs from my elbow and I can walk around the yard with Beau and see my feet. I tried to show you how it hangs on my elbow and failed (try taking a selfie of your elbow)

Todays Christmas Joy photos were taken of the poinsettia around the oil lamp on red and made the poinsettia glow.

WARNING! strange things may appear on this blog. I HAVE NOTHING TO BLOG ABOUT... in the past 2 weeks, I put SEVEN miles on my car.  Walmart and Publix. I last bought gas.fuel.petrol, 2 months ago.

I  found this Dec 11th post in drafts and I was about to delete it but thought, just post it...

Doesn't matter if its dumb. Right? Right?  In fact I have a few crazy things in drafts and they might show up HERE..

This House is Lit

I love my lantern , I love it a lot,
I struggled with the decision, to show these photos or not.
On No, Oh no,
I have lost my writing mojo.
the good news is, you can take a quick peek,
and go on, others to seek.

"These decorations are treemendous."

"This house is lit.

Power IS ON at MadSnapper Home

WE HAVE POWER! Thank you to everyone one who prayed for us. It worked, the last 7 days were the worst of my life, I have never been as terrified as I was in this storm.
Don't Fret about not knowing details HA HA. I had nothing to do, but brush my teeth by lantern light, we three sat staring out this window for 7 days. NOTHING TO DO
But I could write with the old time pen and paper and wow, I have TWENTY pages of handwriting That I may or may not be  able to translate. We have survived not one but two historical hurricanes that will be in the history books.
What I have learned is I do not want to ever go camping, and I am thankful I was born after they invented electricity, phones, water in the homes, electric ranges, fridges.
living out of and Ice Box, is on the list of things to tell.
I AM BACK. I might be slow, the house is A WRECK
TONIGHT I SLEEP WITH OUT THE NOISE OF GENERATORS SURRONDING US AND WE DID NOT HAVE ONE.
Than you to God, who protected us from this monster, and allowed us to live to create this post. thank you to all who supported me in different ways for the past 7 days.

Hurricane Milton (apocalypse inside my head)

the top left is the line we were sitting in for an hour waiting for sandbags to put at our sliding glass door.

✅  Water 12 gallons and 45 bottles, a few in each room in case one room has blown windows or roof gone

✅ cash ✅ photos of every thing in the house taken and in the cloud  ✅ Beaus Rabies/shots record in my phone. He went to vet yesterday, yes we went with him. Vet Tech said get a copy of your shots, if you go anywhere during or after storm, they will want to see it.

✅important papers in plastic bags inside cooler, duct taped so it will float and survive.

✅RX inside small cooler, for dog and both humans, name, address and phone number,

✅ Card made with 5 MOST important passwords

✅ phones charged, iPad, Chromebook charged, 3 battery packs charged, I used one of the packs during Helene power outage to run a USB lamp

Two new lanterns, with 6 settings, Red Steady, Red Flashes (hope I don't need those), high/low flash light and high/low as lantern with string to hang on arm, yes, I played with them. One can charge while using other one, since it said DO NOT use while charging.
This means I will not be in the dark when the apocalypse, umm Hurricane comes. We will get high winds about 8 pm Wed evening and the eye will be over us 3 am Thursday morning
ALL IN THE DARK...
we have been through 9 hurricanes in 40 years and one has NEVER come in daylight hours.
If it thinks it might get here in daylight, it stops and sits in the gulf and gathers itself faster and faster to take aim AFTER DARK
Thank you to the many of you who offered us space to come and stay, and for all the messages, texts, and calls offering help.
Bob's niece and nephew, children of his oldest sister offered to charge a hotel for us to stay in
but they wanted us to go south to Venice, which is going to be hit harder than we are.
There is no where to go, or we would have gone...
we are in zone E and we are not in evacuation zone. My neighbor told me today he checked the maps and it said for water to go over us it would have to be 33 feet, we may become and island and not be able to get out for a while or we may have a tree on the house or be minus a roof, but he told me to not fret about not being able to climb on a roof..
I ask him to promise me, the first thing he will do after the storm is come outside and look to see if a tree is on my house and come see if I am dead or alive, because one of my worst fears is a tree falling on me and NOT killing me, but trapping me there for 20 hours and no way for anyone to find me.
He laughed and said, you sound like my wife. (he did not offer me to come and stay where there are no trees, because it is the house of 7 cars, with 6 adults and an 18 month old baby and 3 dogs) I would have said no. ha ha
Bye for Now and We will see  you on the other side and I hope that means after the storm and not in heaven.
I am trying to be funny, but I do not feel funny.
I feel really terrified waiting for D-Day tomorrow
If you are on Facebook, watch for a post from Amanda McCall, I will text her if I can and she will tag my page with and update, she is one of my family in Augusta that was hit by Helen a few days ago and was without power for 7 days, plus no cellphone service because
 the cell towers went down
if you hear nothing you will when we can.
I hope you don't see me on the news trying to climb from the roof into a row boat, because I am also afraid of water and boats...not just the dark

Solar Lanterns part 3

Can you guess right now how I tested the solar lanterns?

Can you tell now? Where was I?

I TOOK The Lantern IN THE CLOSET.

I yelled down the hall, Bob, come see how good it works!
What?
Come see how good it works!
Where are you?
In The Closet, come see.

He did come.
He did SEE.
He did Shake his head and go back to Olympics watching.

Who is the crazy person? the one glued to the TV or the one Playing with lantern and cell phone in the closet?
PS... I spent 10 minutes reading THIS to find out if I should use who or whom..

OMW! I say whom/who cares?

Bonus question is, Whom Do You Know that can make 3 posts out of 2 Solar Lanterns?

PS  at least 5 of you have said they don't work or they don't last long or they die in the rain.

YOU KNOW I Will let you know.
The problem is I can't test them yet because the light bulb is still on at the neighbors house.
a big plus, is once they are charged they are excellent if the power goes off. I charged in sun for 6 hours and turned them off. They are ready for stead burning and no chance of fire
BTW the paperwork said they will work in snow and ice and rain.

The Hubby has 6 appointment in the next 5 dats,Starting at 6:30 am lab work this coming week, 2 doc visits, Echo Cardio, Stress Test, Preop visit to Coastal etc. We may be missing we may not be missing...Target date for The New Knee is August 16,
THE END for now

Solar Lanterns part 2

the Why and the When.
See the light bulb by the door? It has been on, 24/7 for 365 days, for the past 10 years.
The home is the rental next door. It is also the home of the famous Rocky the runaway dog.
The house sold to investors 5 months ago, and we dread the renters moving.
Because of that light by the door.

The Light went OUT... for 3 days.
we thought they moved. I freaked out because

This is Beau's Ball Game runaway. He only runs in the bright sun.
BUTT every morning at 3:30 and 5 AM, I take him out to potty and this area is where he GOES.
He eats grass there, does bidness there and without that light on it is black dark.
If I use a flashlight it blinds him and he stops and will not do his bideness.
I pondered what to do. I fretted what to do.
I went to Amazon and searched for hours .
Aha! Solar Lanterns! I clicked Buy Now

The lanterns are solar powered.
They need 3 to 5 hours a day of sun to keep them charged, and are auto off/on at dusk and daylight.

I will hang them in the best spot to get the most sun, the cute hanger idea is to test how much sun is where and for how long. As soon as I determine that, they will be clipped to the fence and left there.
They are heavy and waterproof and meant to be in rain, sleet, hail or snow.
YAY!
PEE SSSS.... I can't test to see if they work because the morning of the day they came to our front porch The Light Came Back On....
We think the power was turned off, because the cars were there and the house was in black out.
Anyhoo.... We are happy the light is on, and we have the lanterns and they will work when they move out PLUS they are Perfect for power outages. Just charge, turn them off, put away and take out when needed.
Do you know how I know they work?
to be continued in part 3
