Sepsis Awareness Month

BLOG WAS CLOSED FROM 5:30 TO 8:30 IF YOU GOT A STRANGE MESSAGE, DUE TO BOT SLAMMING WITH OVER 1000 COMMENTS. I THINK I FIXED IT

I was unaware of Sepsis until 3 years ago when my best friend Madeline had it and was hospitalized and almost died. She got really sick from it a year ago, and the doctor told her after she came back from 3 weeks in hospital that they counted her as dead, that he was very surprised she came back from it. She got better but never back to her normal health. Slowly over the year she got sicker and sicker and after 3 months in hospital/rehab and 3 weeks in ICU, was moved to Hospice and died August 4th, of this year from this dreaded disease. Years of torture from infection in a wound on her leg that was treated for 5 years.
If you would like to know about this disease, please follow this link to meet Sue and here her experience with this disease.
The Portuguese Water Blog,  will take you to her blog, scroll down and start with Hi, remember me? and go up, this is an incredible story. Each day she journals her recovery process and struggle.

I am including Madeline in Sepsis Awareness, she suffered from it for years and it was the cause of her death.
I still miss you Catherine, Madeline and Carole, and Ann below, and always will and thinking of all of you many times a day, rest without pain to my four lifetime friends.

Pat was looking for shirts to match the socks in Kohl's, but he did not find one he wanted. He said to tell Bob to get some of the socks to match his shirts.. I told him I don't think Bob wears socks. He said then he can buy some flip flops to match…

We called ourselves Savannah Sisters for our Group email.

We lived in other cities, all we had to do was type Sistas in email and let the replies to replies fly.
I am now last Sista Standing.

for the story of the Sista's follow this link to 2020 HERE

She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Pat, their three sons, their wives and eight grandchildren.
They met when Madeline was 15 and have loved each other ever since.

Happy Birthday, Madeline

Easter Sunday 1962

You walked into my life in January of 1959, midway our last year of Junior High! You know how much you mean to me, then and now.

As you lie in your hospital bed, 400 miles away, I am here praying for you. tToday you turn 79 and in 35 days I will be 79 also. Best Friends, for 64 years and all our remaining years.

Your life is a gift from God, and I am grateful to Him for all the blessings you brought into this world and into my life and into the life of your family.
Happy Birthday Dear Friend. I love you.
Loving Father, touch Madeline now with your loving hands. I believe it is your will for her to be whole in mind, body, spirit and soul. Cover Madeline with the blood of your precious son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Touch her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet.
Amen

To my blog friends, my dearest friend is desperately ill, she could use your prayers.

Savannah Sistas

In Memory of my friend Carole, who left this world Friday, January 10th, 2020
Always loved, ❤ Never Forgotten, Forever Missed

Carole loved all things BEACH and all things WATER.  She did NOT love shoveling snow, but she did it anyway.

Carole loved her daughters, her grandchildren and great grand and she loved her phone, in fact they all did, as you can see by the concentration on family PHUN at the reunion. . Bottom right, Carole, her brother Pat and his wife Madeline.
Bottom left is Catherine, Madeline, Carole
None of the photos shown were taken by me, they are all from family shots over the years, either emailed to me or from FB.
Vintage 1960 in the black and white. I will not give the year on Pat and Madelime

Little did I know, in 1959 when I became lifetime friends with Madeline in Junior high, and later in life with her husband Pat,  that when the internet came into our lives, we would form an email group called 5 Sistas and keep in daily contact by emails and Facebook for many years.
The members consisted of Madeline, her husbands sister, Carole, her cousins Ann (missing from photos, she did not do photos) and Catherine, and me, Sandra the MadSnapper.
All five of us shared the hometown of Savannah, GA.
Each day since 2006, emails would fly back and forth, with so many replies to replies from 5 of us, it was sometime difficult to follow them.
Our Sista' group has now dropped to the two of us, Madeline and Myself.

First we lost Ann, then Catherine and now our Carole is in heaven with her husband and son.
You can tell by the photos our lives were lived and shared with photos...
All five of us in different towns and far apart, but still together.
Each time I got new photos, I played with them. Now I use them as sweet memories!

UPDATE! I found a photo of Ann and Carole

Happy Birthday Madeline!

Row 6,   5 over ME in 1960  you can go to www.classmates. com and find your year book. I did. And wish I had not, but then it is what it is.. or WAS! no wonder I grew up insecure, there was a reason.

2n page 4th row, last pic Me 1961...……… I hated school from middle of 9th grade to graduating. I was so bashful I would not eat in the cafeteria unless my best friend Madeline was there. I would sit out in the logia and wait without food. I had nightmares, bad ones about school.. No dates, no boy friends, no parties or proms...   I was shocked to see all the people I had forgotten but remembered as soon as I saw there photos. 288 in our class..

First pic at top me 1962, Senior Photo...

This is my friend Madeline, who saved my life in high school, by being my best friend. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Madeline, I am one month behind you. Madeline is in the middle of 2nd row... Friends since January 1959, which is when we met... we were born one month apart, only a few neighborhoods apart, in Savannah, in 1944 and did not meet until 1959..

These annual yearbooks can be ordered, for $$99.00
NO I DID NOT ORDER ONE and they are pestering me to death in email....STOP! please
