Recycled Robots

Our local grade schools had a Build a Robot from Recyled materials contest. These are a few I snapped at the library where they were on display... I saw water bottles and egg cartons, thread spools, cereal boxes and MUCH talent.   They used Trash to make ART..

Recycle means using waste materials to create something new, even waste water can be recycled... Recycle also means donating clothing and furniture and anything usable..

Post Script -Recycled Dreams Winner

Here is PROOF Her Madness the MadSnapper was at the
Prior Post  Fashion Show and further proves it was not my skills or my camera that caused blurred photos. The professionals were shooting in low light to.

Above is the winner (not ME silly).
If you want to see MORE photos of all the dresses they are  HERE and are not my photos.

photo from library flicker acct

The top three designs... left to right.. designer, 3rd runner up, designer, 1st place and 2nd runner up...

see what I mean about it was NOT my SKILLS???? shooting inside is a challenge

There were about 300 people, half of which were holding Smart Phones in the air, I was the ONLY ONE with a point and shoot camera.

( I nearly died of mortification and felt every eye in the place was on me thinking.. SHE has NO smartphone)

I was Also the ONLY one not taking selfies with all the contestants.

soooooooooooooo I came home and took these using my camera, remember it has no forward facing LED to see what I am doing.

Please I beg of you, do NOT click on photo to enlarge.
NO... that is not bed hair... that is my going out hair and now I have decided to never go OUT again...
WHY would anyone take a selfie? I mean who wants to see all THIS UP CLOSE..   NOTE: to hide your chins, lean forward and to the side...

JUST IN CASE YOU ARE INTO SELFIES THERE IS AN EXTENDER POLE.....

Our Renovated Library

Our library was closed for renovations and adding a new chiller AC for 3 months. This is the front entrance. The library is now bright and cheerful and they married the Old with the New Technology, with more than 50 computers available to the public and much to much to list.
Paper books sit alongside movies and audio books as the prime attraction. People without internet access at home can find it in the library.

One of the best things that happened at the Fashion Show, was the fact I could walk normally up and down the three flights of steps.
It has been many years, due to osteoarthritis in hips/knees/back, since I could step up/down without the step/drag stutter step.
For five months I have faithfully followed the pool/home exercises the therapist gave me. The pains are gone unless I sit/lay/walk for long periods of time.

Above is the new coffee/study bar set up for teens to study

The light fixture that hangs above the landing on the stairs just fascinates me.

Re-Cycled Dreams Fashion Show

This poster appeared on the front page of our library website when I went to find a Kindle book to borrow... I attended it on Saturday. With about 300 other people

100 % Wal-Mart plastic bags, recycled grommets/ribbon

Teens from Jr. High and High-schools were challenged to create clothing using only recycled items. Above is last years winner and 2nd Runner up below.
plastic shopping bags and old beads

The talent was amazing. Hair and make up was done by Mary Kay volunteers and a local Hair dresser that I missed the name. The runway was lit and the 5 judges are professional artist/designers, with a DJ running the music.

Above creation the girls used paint sample chips for the bottom, the top is saran wrap and the rose was created by the girl on the right using melted plastic spoons

Above left, she used plastic garbage bag for top and the skirt is entirely made from coca cola cans.. the gores are the inside of the cans. The little girl is wearing a dress made from left over beads that were thrown from the Desoto Parade, she and the designer gathered them and glued together.

The dress above, she used only what she found in her fathers tool shed, the top is a plastic bucket, trash bags and old netting for the rest.

The wedding dress created from large white trash bags, and an old net dress..  there were 15 but my photo were poor quality so I gave up getting photos. After 2 hours I had to leave and at this time do not know the winner. will update when I find out.
