Nature Friday on Halloween

Today is Halloween and these are just here for the "BOOS"

Our golden rain tree used to be three times this size, this is from my front porch. It has blooms on it now. a third of the tree was cut off to take down a rotted tree that partially fell on our roof a few years ago. First time it has bloomed since then.

Golden Rain Tree, which is known for its showy flowers and distinctive papery seed pods. The scientific name for this tree is Koelreuteria elegans or Koelreuteria paniculata.

Last but not least Mama Cuban Tree Frog, was guarding the pool pump when I went to pump it... she is about 3 to 4 inches long and can hop way high and far..

The Crane, my Afternoon Entertainment

Thursday, mid-afternoon, propped on pillows and reading a great book, I heard BOOM and the ground shook. I flew down the hall and to the kitchen door and as I shouted
"Bob come look what's in the yard,"

I grabbed my cell, and well, YOU know what I did.

I was shouting in spurts like an announcer on a football game.

"Look, it's a crane!"

"They're taking the tree off the roof of the 2-story house, it's been 31 days."

"It's tall, it's taller by 4 stories than the 2-story house."

"It' moving, it's Movin, OMG the wind is gusting 30 MPH, if it falls this way it will crush our house."

(BOB COMES OUTSIDE and walks closer to the fence; I back up with my back to the door and shout as I back in the door, "Come In The House"still madly snapping while yapping)

"ARE YOU CRAZY? get back in the house!"

(I drag him in the house, and he calmly resumes watching the TV
I stand giving a blow-by-blow description,)

"Look Come Look, it just lifted the WHOLE Tree into the air, its swinging, that weighs a ton, its going to turn over on our house."

"LOOK! LOOK! it has a counterbalance ball on the other end, its huge and swinging wildly, so is the tree. IT'S THE WHOLE TREE!"

"Did you hear that THUMP, they swung it OVER THE ROOF OF THE HOUSE and dropped it in the front yard."

"Bob, YOU GOTTA COME SEE THIS. there is a MAN with a chain saw RIDING ON THE BOTTOM of the chain the tree was in, HE"S STANDING IN THE CHAIN, He's swinging back and forth
They are lowering him into the top of the TREEEEE
OMG!"

oh, hey, Bloggers, I forgot you were there, Can You SEE him?? See the crazy man that rides on a chain hanging from a 7-story crane?
He rode down into the tree, chainsaw buzzed, and suddenly he was gone and half a tree arose and swung over and was dropped, then it went back, and I heard lots of noise and
Lo and Behold a GIANT Stump flew across and was dumped.
This was the most
excitement since the bobcat in our back yard.
While the cell phone was hot off the press, um, photo shoot, I snapped these 3 below to show you how the other end of our yard looks, the opposite view of the Hopeful Stump Left by The Bob Cat

When all of this was over, I was sad that the landscape view or our sliding glass doors, has changed forever, make that the rest of our lives.
I was sad, when Bob said I did not know the tree fell, when did it fall, was it on the house?
I said Milton dumped it on the two-story house, on the 9th of Oct. and he said I did not know that.
We talk about it every time we eat because the tree leaning on the roof was there for weeks and we can see it from the breakfast bar.
Dementia, I hate you!

Houses with focus on TREES #1

What could be better than homes with TREES on Nature Friday.
Driving through some of our streets is like being hugged by Mother Nature. I am a True Tree Lover/Hugger.

I asked CoPilot to help me say why I love trees,
Trees are not just silent observers of our world; they are lifelines for our environment.
Trees are like nature’s air filters. Through a process called photosynthesis, they absorb carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) and release oxygen.

They provide habitats for countless species—birds, insects, mammals, fungi, and more
Water Management: Trees act as natural sponges. Their roots absorb rainwater, preventing floods and replenishing groundwater

Last but not least, tree provide us with Emotional Well-Being: The mere presence of trees has a calming effect on our minds. Urban green spaces provide respite from the hustle and bustle, reducing stress and promoting mental health.

Trees for nature Friday

We take Beau for a ride each Sunday morning while others are sleeping, giving us the entire road. We drive by this construction site, each week to check the progress on 33 homes to be built on 10 acres. See Prior Post Jordan Creek

The whole thing started in 2021 and there is still no sign of a home and they have now removed every single tree that was on the property. The plan stated replace 122 trees, leave 52.
There are NOW 174 trees gone to never return. You can see here, they have built the site up to 4 feet higher than the other older homes. If rain ever returns to us, the houses surround this development will be flooded from the run off.

These trees are across the street from the planned homes and the ones they removed most of them were like these. I feel sad when I see these gorgeous grand old trees still standing. for now.

Sunshine at Sunrise

Monday, due to rain, we walked at 7:30 AM not daybreak at 7.  As Beau and I wandered, the sun topped the tallest trees, painting each limb with sunshine. I missed the first few minutes because I do not use my phone while walking. The beauty was calling to me.

The freshly washed grass and trees were slowly painted with beauty, our ears listened to the music of birds gone crazy from the rain.

It was so beautiful I stopped and asked Beau to Stay and he did, and stayed twice more, once for each of these trees.

Beau was poking his nose here and there and suddenly he flushed a covey of Doves, about 12, I think! I felt a total rush of feelings. the sound of the wings, the site of them lifting suddenly, the sun glinting on their wings, my soul soared with the beauty.

In the midst of our lives, we must find the magic that makes our souls soar.

Not a Frog in the bucket

I said to Bob, what is that noise? He replied What Noise?  I followed my ears and there he was. FPL guy in a bucket cutting down the neighbors Bamboo.

We had watched with joy as the neighbor over a period of 2 weeks slowly removed the bamboo that ruins our pool by raining tiny leaves in it. Also when the wind blows, the bamboo shorts out the power lines. I said to Bob as we watched the neighbor, if he touches those 3 tall ones that are touching the power line, we need to be ready to call 911... 2 days after I said that FPL appeared and took it all down safely... YAY it is all gone now. so is the cute guy in the bucket that wondered what the heck the old lady was doing with her camera.

If you are bored with nothing else to do, click HERE for prior post on when I did call the power down number because the bamboo was flaming on those wires. that was back in 2016.

Trees CAN Cross Their KNEES!

Hi, my name is Terry Tree. I live in the woods just outside this Welcome Center in Emerson Point Preserve.

I am sure you did not know trees can cross their knees, but here is Proof Postive. Why don't all you humans take my example to heart and kick back and cross your knees and enjoy God's Creation.

I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do. They go wandering forth in all directions with every wind, going and coming like ourselves, traveling with us around the sun two million miles a day, and through space heaven knows how fast and far! ~John Muir
