This is the first thing we saw when we woke up the next morning after Hurricane Ian's visit.
Under all the debris we found 76 Avocado.
This means I can bend and stoop and pick up something 76 times.
They fell all day and night and rolled on the roof sounding like Bowling Balls.
We put these two containers out by the street with a sign that said Take what you want.
Bob took a box full to the YMCA.
The below containers 42 of them.
The blue container was found on the curb of a neighbor, and I had been using it to move thing around the yard, it had a long pull handle.
The good news is the falling avocado helped us meet the neighbors. 4 Families we did not know.
I knocked on doors asking if they wanted avocado, and each took 3 to 5 of them.
the 4th house, the man and woman, college age, took 2 and I said if you want more, come with me and get what you want.
They went in the backyard and saw the containers and when I said it was going to the curb she said, we will take it out for you, and they did.
We entertained ourselves, without TV, internet, computer, by watching cars stop and get so excited at the size of them
One car was 3 people older than us, and it was like they had discovered Gold.
We had a fit of giggles watching them hustle.
The last lady stopped while I was in the driveway, and she said can I have all of them? I said sure, take the blue box, I got it off a trash pile. She grabbed it and sat it in the seat and yelled as she drove off, I have a huge family and we thank you
The next day, we had 25 more, and I took a wooden box off our porch and filled it.
When we got up the next morning the entire box was Gone.
Bob said I told you they would take the box, and
I said, I got that box of a trash pile 3 months ago and you
never painted it and never will and neither will I.
It was a nice box, but who cares.
